【国 指定重要文化財 】指定名称は『大阪城 多聞櫓』...創建は寛永５年（1628）ですが現在の櫓は江戸時代後期の嘉永元年（1848）に再建されたものです。ちなみに多聞 とは…戦国時代の武将、松永久秀が城門と櫓を一体化させ防御力を向上させるという城 造りで築いた多聞 城 の櫓に由来しています。大阪城 では他の枡形にもありましたが現存 しているのはこの大手枡形のみです。
多聞 とは松永久秀の多聞 城 の櫓に由来する様式名で他の枡形にもあったが、現存 するのはこれのみ。櫓の鉄門を大手の大門、上部を渡櫓、南に折れ曲がった部分を続櫓という。寛永５年(1628)創建、嘉永元年（1848）再建、昭和44年（1969)解体修理。

大手門を北西部から防御する櫓。名称は石山本願寺を攻めた信長軍にとって難攻不落の櫓がこの付近にあって「落とした者に千貫文与えても惜しくない」といったことに由来するという。元和6年（1620）造営、昭和36年（1961）解体修理。 - Yoshiro T
