Osaka Castle is a castle Chuo Osaka located in Japan.
中央区大阪城1-1 Osaka , Ōsaka 540-0002 Japan
Dating back to the 1600's with most the castle restored in the 1930's. 600¥ pp entrance fee gets you to the 5 museum floors and roof observation deck where you can see Osaka in 360 degrees.
The most remarkable thing here was walk in big surrounding park . Castle itself is “replica” of destroyed in WWII original one, not reconstruction. Amazing beautiful exterior, but modern museum inside.
You must take a comfy shoes ! I don't know how some girls make it to the top with high heels :/ . there's a nice basken robbins flavors up there :}.
Osaka castle is a symbol of the city of Osaka and a special national historic site . With its vast garden , high walls, and a wide moat, this is the most beautiful castle I’ve seen so far.
Built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi in 1583, but was damaged during WWII. The main keep was restored and now serves as a museum . Trek up the eight flights of stairs to see the scenic views from the top.
Where you can look and learn the iconic symbol of Osaka; Osaka-jo. I didn’t get to enter the castle and just spend my day wandering around. It’s such a huge place and many food trucks /stalls outside.
Beautiful castle , definitely worth going to the park to see it however inside is essentially a modern interior housing the museum so don't expect to see traditional rooms & the like.
Great city views from the tower, but a long trek over bridges & moats. Bundle tickets for Osaka Castle Museum & nearby Osaka Museum of History are good value . Very hot in summer so bring an umbrella.
The line outside is usually for people waiting for elevator . You can pass by and use the stairs, it’s not that high. On top you have a nice outdoor observation deck.
Inside you get great views from the top (the wire nets spoil the photos somewhat)and an exhibition which is interesting if want to know a bit about the shoguns who fought endless wars to unite Japan
the climb up to the castle is pretty steep from the back entrance. but the view at the top is worth it. check out the old fortifications that along side the modern pathways built for visitors
Try the sweet potato and dango at the shops near the castle . They are divine
Climb the stairs, take your time, and enjoy the view at the top. On a clear day, departures and arrivals from Osaka's Itami Airport are very visible. Bring your long lens.
A must see in Osaka! Quite tall building. You can cue for the lift for a while although is not that heavy to climb by foot. Unless ♥️ problems, seniors or overweight. Very hot inside. Be aware.
Love this place. Very beautiful and has been maintained very well . The exhibit inside is also quite hi-tech for something that has been around for a while
Completely rebuilt inside so was a bit of a waste of time. Just a museum really. A walk around the gardens is probably the best bit (and it's free).
If you want an audio translator for the castle (which is a museum ) go the counter and ask it for free. The top view is amazing but the museum is meh.
The grounds are really nice for a walk or run! Crowded but the dioramas are worth a peek. Good views from the top, follow the flow cos it's very narrow.
Very nice place. Not for those with limited walking/mobility due to the high amount of stairs and walking. Peaceful and highly informative of the history.
It's cool to look at from the outside (gotta pay to go inside). It's a bit of a walk into the park so bring lots of water and ice during summer.
Just to take photo. Autumn leaves are quite beautiful but I prefer to come during spring with cherry blossom . Enter and exit from different side of castle to see different view .
Castle was just like museum on the inside not much WOW factor! Do try out the tokoyaki selling just outside the castle and have it under the beautiful ginko tree ????
The castle is gorgeous. Walk through the exhibits and make sure to take a few photos of the Osaka skyline from the top of the castle .
Good reconstructed castle . The interior is a nice museum , the best castle museum we went. Lots of food stalls around it.
A good place to study Japanese history, I like the way the information is presented. This made me enjoy seeing along the 8 floor way.
Historic exterior with modern interior . Not worth paying to go in the castle but can visit the museum or exhibition outside of the castle . If you have Osaka Amazing Pass, admission is free.
After googling many ppl recommend the outside garden and say inside is not worth the 600¥ entry fee. The pictures outside got spectacular though! So go for the park , not the castle
This Osaka castle is a very big land. You can come here by JR train . Osaka jo have a natural and ozone area. You come here it fun!!
The castle is rebuild in the 20th century, and inside there is not much to see except some modern expositions , but the most interesting part is the amazing view you have over the city of Osaka.
If you are on a JR Pass, there's an access on the Osakajokoen Station, where you can get the JR Osaka Loop line for free to Osaka Central Station.
Entrance fee is 600 yenAccess : Take the JR Osaka Loop Line to Osaka-jo-koen station. You can buy from the machine. Easy and fast
Didn't pay to go into the castle , just enjoyed the view from around the castle and the cherry blossom gardens (for free)
You can avoid the long line for the elevator and go up floor by floor and see the exhibition (and some exercise won't hurt)
If you have time and enjoy reading history, you may like the museum inside the castle . Otherwise, you may be disappointed, and the park nearby will be enough.
It’s a must, but everything feel artificial. It’s perfect to go in the morning
Look for the Japanese garden for photo op instead of in front of castle with the horde of people
Great views outside, inside its nice to go on to the last floor to see the city and gardens from above.
Stunning castle and park around it. Not worth to go inside castle instead enjoy the gorgeous park
A great place to ride your bike here too while taking in the surrounding view and the castle
The closest JR station to Osaka Castle is Osakajokoen Station on the JR Loop Line , a 10 minute, 160 yen ride from JR Osaka Station
Nearest subways are Business Park Station and Tanimachiyonchome Station. Visit Boulangerie and Cafe Gout for Breakfast if you arrive early B4 9am for castle .
Nice castle , nice view from the top, nice collection of artefacts. Video story about the history is interesting done but only in Japanese.
The visit inside is kind of confusing, and it gets very crowded because of the tiny space, but the history about the castle is very interesting.
Shogun Hideyoshi Toyotomi built Osaka Castle in the 16th century and loved gold so much that his furniture , weapons and armour were made from the precious metal. Even his tearoom glistened.
Section 3 - Harp, 2:01 - 3:01 @ 天守閣 (The Main Tower). The west side outside the main tower offers some great views overlook the park with modern buildings in the background.
Nice grounds, inside the castle itself is a tourist museum , so don't go in expecting to see what the internals of the Osaka castle looks like
very nice area to visit. the castle has 2 moats and is not a straight road up. there are cherry blossoms and ume trees in between.
These group of kids on a field trip had a blast climbing these rocks at the three-storey base of Osaka Castle .
Come at night to avoid the crowd! The lights are beautiful.
Beautiful building but didn’t find it worth going in the castle . Museum is kind of boring but surrounding grounds are pretty.
Free to visit for disabled people. Great service, too! - Cati Van Reeth
Walk around the famous samurai castle. There are always too many people with selfie sticks but what to do. - Derek Hess
This park has awesome views of the Osaka castle. Paid admission tho. - Elizabeth Lee
Section 4 - Harpsichord, 3:01 - 3:24 @ 空の内濠 (The Empty Inner Moat). Just to the west of the Sakura Gate is a hidden open area with some amazing views of the dry moat and Shudokan. Can you find it? - Ash Ryan Beats
