Historical square in the center of Beijing across from the Forbidden City . I good place take photos of the National Flag and the front gate of the Forbidden City .

Jason

Those say its BEAUTIFUL is no different from complimenting a landmark symbolizes the very totalitarianism of China since the 1940’s. Give a impromptu speech, any topic, on the spot & see what happens.

Elise ❥

Come here for the flag raising ceremony ! Gets very packed, but an interesting thing to do at least once while you're here.

Quentin Lafon

Just before the main gate of the Forbidden City , you have to see this "memorial" place and take some classy photos. Good to know, entry of this square is totally free.

Ivan Garin

Probably the biggest square in the world. Security procedures and massive queues make it quite a tiring experience.

Andrew C

Mao Zedong mausoleum entry is so symbolic and wonderful... massive security line to get inside, but plenty of space to wander around once in!! Easy to cross the street to actual square, via tunnels

Niclas Skold

Huge square in the heart of Beijing. Here you can watch the locals or the monuments . The lampposts are crowded with cameras . Close to Forbidden City .

Meng Chen

Before the Forbidden City , you'll most likely pass by this first. The best time to see this massive square is during sunrise or sunset , where troops raise/lower the flag. Entering the Square is free.

In front of the Forbidden City with the big picture of Chairman Mao hang in fromt. The best time to see this massive square is during sunrise or sunset , where troops raise/lower the flag.

For security reason, Tiananmen Square is a fenced square circled by low iron grids with main four entrances – east, west, south and north. The square is now open to the public till midnight

Sophie Arenas

Come early to see the troops raising the flag at sunrise or in the evening just before sunset to see the troops lowering the flag. Such an impressive square.

Maynard Tann

Lots of security so pay attention to to signs and be prepared to wait in lines .

During winter season , wear warm clothes . The Siberian winds are so chilly that the temp drops further since it's an open area .

Winnie

Pay a rickshaw 30 yuan to drive you from the end of the forbidden city back to Tiananmen Square so that you can take the subway

Harumi U

Flag goes up and down everyday and big flowers are decorated for a month after the national day. People fly kite in the morning. But anyone remember what happened here not so long ago?

Michael Gogel

Don't make bad jokes and don't fool around or else...but amazing place!

Queen Eats

You will stop for a while before go to Forbidden City . So many ppl take pic in this square, there are statue in the middle. But tbh, I don’t go around this site bcs so hot at noon.

Victor Garrido

Hurry up and get here before 6pm, they close it for security reasons. BTW, pretty crowded but 90% are policemen. Check the CCTV everywhere!!!

Kevin Koo

REMEMBER. 30 Years.

Alex ADS

Most of nearby museums are closed on Mondays, including the mausoleum of Mao and the forbidden city . The National museum is free of charge but bring your passport for control check.

John 忠威 suɐɥ Dyke????

One of the must see attractions of China. You can get a photo taken with Chairman Mao in the background. Be ware of hustlers

The Tiananmen, Tian'anmen or Gate of Heavenly Peace is a famous monument in Beijing, the capital of the People's Republic of China. It is widely used as a national symbol. First built during the Ming

Megan Masters

If you’re not Asian, come dressed up for a lot of photos with locals who want to have you in a forever photo.

Lina

I have been here for a few times. But never seen the flag raising ceremony ! It is about 7:00 am everyday, but my flight is 7:40am . What a pity!

Bon Chantawibul

enter from the opposite side of the main entrance for much less crowd

N R

Probably the biggest public square I’ve ever visited before! Cool place. A lot of tourists !

Ross Worrell

One of the world's great squares; take a minute or two in order to fully take in the atmosphere.

Agustinus Purwadiyanto

Very big and great building in front of the huge square space in Beijing China ????????

Andreas Stenberg

Funny place for a foreigner as many of the Chinese tourists want to take photos with you. I even had someone handing over a little kid to me to hold for a photo. A bit strange but funny.

Wes Morgan

Nearest subway stop is Tian'anmen East on Line 1 - brings you up just to the right of the gate...and there's a decent little souvenir shop off to the right as you come up out of the subway...

Jin Ngee Chia

Very crowded at all times! Suggest going to Jingshan Gongyuan. Pay CNY2 for the view of the Forbidden City from a high point.

Herman Lee

You can take selfies of people taking selfies with Chairman Mao .

Jee Kim

Take no.120 Bus from Wangfujing to Tiantan park especially at night ~It only costs you 2 Chinese yuan to view all must-sees in Beijing. What a bargain~;-)

Taufik Octaviano

If u take public transport goin' there, u'd better taking address or map with Chinese literature ... Or u'll gonna lost for a while up there

Rock Wong

Best place for riding bicycle

Christopher Michael

It's a huge concrete square w/a few monuments & a giant photo of the murderous benevolent evil dictator, Chairman Mao . Historic site of the June 1989 massacre. A must see at least once. Free entry.

Émile Massie-Vanasse

Try to pass the image of Mao and continue until you arrive in the forbidden city ... Special price for students (drivers licence can do the trick since nobody understand English !)

Anja Draganic

A must when in Beijing! (Most probably) Biggest square in the world.

Evrim S.

Super crowded place. Security check makes more crowded

Arthur Carl

in 1989 here is the center of world's attention, exactly the same thing did happened 23 years later on Tahrir Square, Egypt. PEOPLE vs POWER
