Ears and noses of thousands of Koreans victims were buried in this place during the XVI century. In those times, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, invaded China and Korea a couple of times.

文禄元(1592)年から翌年にかけて,慶長2(1597)年から翌年にかけて,豊臣秀吉は配下の軍勢を朝鮮へ侵攻させた。これを文禄・慶長の役という。日本軍は朝鮮の軍民の鼻を切り取り戦功の証明とした。この鼻は日本へ送られ,方広寺門前に鼻を埋め塚を造り,慶長2年9月28日に大法要が営まれた。この塚をはじめ鼻塚とよび,のちには耳塚と称した。江戸時代初めには塚の上に巨大な五輪塔が立てられた。 Read more

정유재란 당시 도요토미 히데요시가 부피가 큰 수급 대신 코나 귀를 베어 소금에 절여 본국으로 보내도록 하여 각자 벤 수에 따라 포상을 내리도록 지시한 것으로 막상 모아놓고 나니 처치가 곤란한 데다가 일을 지시한 히데요시가 죽으면서 필요가 없어지고 그렇다고 조선에 돌려줄 수도 없게 되자 그냥 한 곳에 파묻은 것이다.
