This clock tower outside the Stadthuys was given to the people of Malacca in 1886 by Mr Tan Jiak Kim to fulfil the wishes of his father, Tan Beng Swee, who was a third generation of a Chinese philantrophic millionaire family.
Jalan Laksamana 75000 Malacca , Melaka Malaysia
The beautiful Clock Tower with the fountain in front.. Always full of tourists & photographers ! Don't miss the late evening where birds fly in unison among the trees ! ????
Another unrelated relic at this Dutch Square — a German mortar from WWI ???? The Brits then felt this captured trench mortar would appeal to locals, who are unlikely to know abt the Austrian trigger
One of the main attractions here other than red buildings . Lots of people watching . Take a ride on rickshaw. Instagrammable spots all over this place.
Clock tower was neither built by the Brits or Dutch. Tan Jiak Kim, a local Peranakan Chinese philanthropist, was fulfilling his late father’s wishes. Source: New Straits Times
