Visit and know more about the dark history of the genocide under Pol Pot's regime. Visit when you're in a happy or light mood since you'll be depressed afterwards.
There's something very wrong about thinking it's a good idea to convert a school into a torturous prison .
Maybe the most interesting attraction in the city , it is a must. A good 1,5hrs needed to see and listen everything. Very striking. Entrance 6USD with audio, take audio to have a better understanding.
This shows you the length people go to under torture. Innocent people confessing and even implicating their family members to get the torture to end. Out of 20,000 prisoners here, only 7 survived.
It's really not something you want to see, but you need to see it to make sure it never happens again. 30% of the population killed by the need to incriminate others under torture.
We had Mr. Lungdi as our tour guide and he was extremely knowledgeable . We highly recommend getting yourself a tour guide. A must if you want to learn about Cambodia's not so long ago history.
Heavy stuff, but definitely well worth a visit. Do make sure to get the audio guide , which is really excellent. A full visit takes 3h if you take your time.
V. interesting museum to learn about Khmer dictatorship & mustn’t forget what happened here. take the audio guide option, they tell you which parts to skip if you don’t want to hear v.awful things.
What I feel should be reviewed here is the museum , not the actual atrocities. Audio guide is amazing, energy of the place is completely unique and indescribable unless you visit.
I visited Cambodia just to see it and it was worth it, they have excellent prices and very kind guides, I highly recommend to anyone, it is a place to see at least once in your life!
At this museum I could learned a lot about the genocide in Cambodia during the Khmer Rouge, communist regime, our tour guide Mr. Koem was very kind and very well prepared, his English was very well
I think this is one of the must-see items in Phnom Penh - because it gives you a different perspective on Khmer Rouge life . If you visit it, I recommend that you seek the help of a guide.
I recommend a personal guide, we had an extraordinary one, I spent 5 days here with the whole family and it was a very good experience, I highly recommend The Killing field and S21 Tour !
You really must visit Tuol Sleng Museum to understand to understand what this country has gone through. The place was kept in a very good condition, it was worth the long trip,Higghly recommend.
It is worth it to book a guide to have interaction and learn a lot about the background. We had Sok Channak, one of the best guides we could have get and booked him via our hotel , Urban Plantation.
The audio guide is a great insight into the areas history. Very informative and well documented. It’s a tough visit but worth it
A bit hardcore for sensible people but the place worth absolutely to pay a visit. You can find some interesting copies of Dvd and books about Cambodia/pol pot regime from vendors inside. Don't miss it
If you visit one place in Phnom Penh, this should be it. Grim and basic - the museum is simply the old prison with a handful of displays and an audio guide - it is truly horrifying.
Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum is a place that was used by the famous Khmer Rouge regime from 1975-1979. Visiting the museum helped me find out what really happened in Cambodia two decades ago
I found out about some extremely dramatic events , this visit was very educational… now I appreciate everything I have…The Killing field and Toul sleng genocide museum S21 Tour excellent services!
Very interesting museum to learn about the Khmer dictatorship and not to forget what happened in this country . Taking the audio guide is highly recommended!
Well organised museum . The horrors inside the building balanced by the tranquil courtyard for people to collect their thoughts and just contemplate. The stories really brought the horror to life.
An experience full of emotion, even for this museum it was worth visiting Cambodia, I will definitely tell my friends the experience I had here, there remains a place I will not be able to forget
Really grim but worth it. You can learn a lot. The information is in no way sugar coated. Be prepared to spend a couple of hours to see everything
A very well maintained and well preserved place, worth visiting! I recommend that you seek the help of a guide to understand the history of the past and, finally, to witness the history.
If you visit Cambodia, do not miss the killing fields or the Museum of Genocide. These places are the best way to understand what the country has gone through and to better respect its history
Visit before the killing fields for some contextualisation. The video played on building 3 is shocking, I felt nauseous watching it. An educational experience but not for the faint of heart.
I was really impressed by this museum , it is loaded with history and many emotional life stories, all the sites are very well maintained and the staff is very well trained and informed.
I would definitely return for the emotional load experienced here! Even if visiting the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum is heartbreaking, it is still a must see attraction .
Terrifying place but everyone should pay a visit in order for the humanity to remember what happened. Be aware that there are some quite disturbing stories and pictures on display.
Extremely moving and powerful museum . Plan to visit here before the Killing Fields , and plan to do something light in the afternoon. The museum is well done, but it's a challenging subject.
This place is perfect for all who want to learn the history of the brutal Khmer Rouge regime . I was very pleased with the services offered; the driver is vigilant and drives safely. RECOMMEND
Must visit for your stay but bring good nerves. What you will see is hard. Plan a day and also visit the killing fields
Impressive places but also full of sadness, this museum was very well thought out, it offers very advantageous services that transfer into history lessons from which we must learn something
Taxi Phnom Penh exceeded my expectations with their well-organized and informative tour . The guide's ability to convey the historical significance of each site was commendable
I Recommend! I think this is one of the must-see items in Phnom Penh - because it gives you a different perspective on Khmer Rouge life .
Paying for the audio tour is very worth it
We followed the recommended route, which starts with the buildings to the left of the entrance, I was impressed by this tragic story, and I think this visit made me a better person
This museum is unique in the world. Sad stories, but you have to visit it to add value to your visit to Phnom Penh. I came from America and I really do not regret it at all.
To really know the horrors of the khmer rouge, you must come here. Youll definitely feel something here
I highly recommend this museum , is an unforgettable experience! I have found here the history of an extremely high pressure regime, and the bloody bitterness.
Go inside,to see each blood still appear on the floor and imagine that all fault & crime of Polpot Regime, they are animals not human to massacre all Cambodian People,Vnmese,Chinese
Very impressive. Very good audio tour . Must visit to understand the history of Cambodia
I recommend visiting the museum ! The stories are terrifying, but they give you an insight into the events that so many people went through.
I was fortunate to meet a very knowledgeable guide who spoke English unexpectedly well , helpful staff , and affordable prices
A very sad place to visit but it’s important to do so. Don’t go in without the audio guide . It takes about 3 hours if you do it all listening to all audios.
Certainly the help of a guide is very important. The stories are terrifying, but they give you an insight into the events that so many people went through.
This is definitely a piece of history that everyone should remember! This place showcases some many acts in Cambodia
I was very grieved by the ones I found but it was a trip that changed me, I recommend from the heart to anyone!
