Unique tea tasting experience. Most tastings are 700-1,300 yen per person. Matcha flavor is very strong in some, so consider a less potent tea for newbies.

The original shop was established in 1717 and it’s been in the current building since 1864. Try the gyokuro tea or the Uji Shimizu, a powder used to make iced green tea . There’s a tasting room too

Best place to buy tea , especially Gyokuro . There is a tea room round the side. Worth it to try the tea and sweets there.

Try the gyukoro tea-it'll be unlike anything you've ever had. There's english-speaking staff that can take you through a tea tasting .

Koicha setu comes with mochi , and is first delivered thick like paste. Then, after you cannot sip more, water is added and it is whipped into a standard matcha .

So many types of matcha to sip or buy. Great for an afternoon pick me up.

if you come for a tea ceremony between 10-1 you get the early special: matcha + another tea & wagashi for ¥900.

京極の昔 was smooth and fragrant. The best matcha I've tasted. Wagashi was not too sweet and very good. Excellent experience.

If you are in Kyoto and like tea , this is the closest you’ll be to your tea temple ; and if you don’t like tea , it’s an interesting experience nonetheless
