Долгое время музей был единственным в СССР музеем современного искусства . В 2004 году в дар были переданы скульптура и картины Эмиля Казаза, а в 2010 для музея куплены скульптуры Карена Петросяна.
Хороший музей с хорошей экспозицией , однако нуждается в модернизации
Исключительно армянские художники, экспозиция на один этаж , не особо впечатляет
