Well worth the couple of Euro entrance fee. Amazingly tranquil, beautiful, but simple interior with beautiful mosaic ceilings . A place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city !!

The Rotunda of St Georges is one of the oldest monument in Thessaloniki. It was part of a large complex that included the palace , an octagonal building & the hippodrome built by Caesar Galerius .

One of the most ancient structures still standing in the city . Started as a mausoleum , was turned into a church , a mosque and a museum . A fascinating place and a fascinating space.

Originally built as a mausoleum for Emporer Galerius but he was never laid to rest there. Became the city 's first church but converted to a mosque by the Ottomans.

Ministry of Culture announced Rotonda to be used not only as a multicultural center but as a church as well . Great news. A must while in Thessaloniki.
