A great early morning stroll down the early remains (AD 78) of Life frozen after the legendary eruption of Vesuvius. Recommended over Pompeii especially if you are a history buff or art student!
I had a choice: either visit here or the Pompeii ruins. I chose here, the lesser trodden path. I was happy I did, as the site is smaller and better preserved than the Pompeii ruins. Worth the visit!
It's really worth the trip and your time. Smaller, quieter and more well preserved than Pompei , you should definitely check it out. (Combined ticket with Pompei 20 euros / 11 euros each).
Partially better preserved than Pompeii which makes it easier to imagine life 2000 years ago. Don't miss Cucuma's bottega and the illustrated price list at the store front.
better preserved than Pompey, with a lot of frescoes . The curation behind this project was impeccable. You can see what happened at the time. Very didactic and informative without being so touristic
Beautiful ruins, you can still see Frescos in the walls and petrified wood. Grab a guide tho, the audio guide is not good.
Better preserved and more interesting than Pompeii. I was fascinated to see that a lot of the wooden fittings and beams have survived. Plus you can do it all comfortably in an afternoon.
Much more interesting than Pompeii because the ruins are better preserved - you get a much more comprehensive sense of ancient Roman life here (although both are worth visiting).
Amazing ancient city ! Must see with a tour guide to understand better or to take the map and the book to read about all the history!
Take a lot of water with you so you can take time to look at all the buildings. It’s a fantastic site
A lot more interesting than Pompeii, because better conserved and not too huge - certainly worth a visit.
Imagine a beautiful town ,digged under the rock.To enter in Ercolano you must go under and under. A new system of bridges and tunnels bring you 2000 years ago between the Empire's Streets.
Although smaller in scale, the excavations at Herculaneum give a much better feel of what it must have been like to live in 79AD than thoseat Pompeii. Well worth the trip.
Herculaneum is not as big and more interesting than Pompeii. It is easier to hide from the sun and two times fewer people.
Better than Pompei ! Buy tickets in advance online.
amazing ruins. smaller, yet much better preserved than pompeii. must visit site.
Better than Pompei Scavi. It's smaller and more carefully reconstructed. You have more shadow, it's more comfortable . Use the audioguide.
Wonderful experience, i suggest to bring a guide cause they did not have any map or leaflet in english nor italian. No cafè inside and this is a pity.
We were lucky to have an excellent guide you get far more from the visit if you have one.
Small ancient city , but very interesting. Gives a excellent view of a city in late Roman times
The 10 Euro pp guided tour is well worth it. Very interesting and informative.
Smaller than Pompeii but more well preserved buildings. Visit after Pompeii, last entrance at 18:00...
The Herculaneum dogs are much more compact that Pompeii and I found them far more interesting.
The self service bar only has vending machines, so best to bring your own food to enjoy a nice lunch .
The legendary foundation of Hercolanum is ascribed to Dionysius of Halicarnassus to Heracles, as he was returning from Spain. [continue] Read more
Much better preserved than Pompeii on account of being buried in ash rather than lava.
Smaller and more accessible than nearby Pompei , here's your chance to explore the remains after the 79AD disaster.
Better than Pompeii!
Next and last stop for today…
I agree they're more interesting than the Scavi di Pompei .
Affascinante. Ben conservato
Roman city .
Fascinating .
Andateci. Soprattutto il percorso serale. Bellissimo
no meu ponto de viata melhor do que pompei! imperdivwl
Maravilhosa!!
Very interesting experience, to see an interactive storyboat about Vesuvio and the Roman's Empire lifestyle. Buy a little present of MAV for you parents. - Adriano Giordano
Great value for the bus trip from Pompei. Just €20 with a 1,5 hour walk up the mountain. Bar and food by the parking lot. A small store at the top as well. - Michael B.
Incredible. I had low expectations but ended up being one of my favorite parts of Italy. An amazing archeological experience but be prepared to walk a lot in crowds! - Josh A
