You need a map (which is not always accurate), good walking shoes and plenty of water. The site is massive and there is so much to see. You can easily explore without audio and tour guides. Have fun!
The place is huge. You can find free audio guides online, so bring your phone and save the money instead d buying the audio guide there. It gets super warm so bring water. The cafeteria is not great.
This site is a definite visit for those visiting Naples/Napoli. There is so much history to see + learn and you're literally walking on it! Mt. Vesuvius appears in the near distance, so snap a pic.
Incredible. I had low expectations but ended up being one of my favorite parts of Italy. An amazing archeological experience but be prepared to walk a lot in crowds!
Stunning venue. Get a tour guide and you’ll learn about the secrets of this archeological site .
There is a snack building on the grounds but expensive . A great photo spot for Vesuvio is next to the amphitheatre. Check which buildings you want to see beforehand, it's quite easy to overlook them.
Absolutely must-see as a day trip. The free map and guide come with a few suggested itineraries, so don’t feel compelled to get a guided tour .
This is an amazing city . Come with time because the place is huge. And if you want download the rick stevens app for a free walk tour . We did it and this app have a lot of tours around the world.
Go late on in the afternoon midweek & enter from the amphitheatre side closest to the city . This way you skip the crowds and queuing. 2/3 hours is enough & a good guide would make a huge difference
Can’t miss this site while in Naples. Be aware there is no signage in the park explaining what anything is so go with a guide, get the audio tour , etc
One of the most interesting, amazing and horrifying places I’ve ever been. Everyone should have this on their bucket list.
Breathtaking. It's huge! Takes at least 2-3 (and up to 7) hours to see. Not a lot of info on panels so an audioguide is a must. Skip the queue: buy tickets online the day before.
Great place! Be ready to spend around 5 hours there. Don't recommend to pay for an audio guide . Better to download the PDF guide from the official website.
Worth a visit but it’s much bigger than I though and a lot of walking. I’d also recommend getting at least one audio guide as there isn’t a lot of signage.
If you're going to do Pompeii, do it with a guide so it really comes to life! It's hard to find shade from the summer sun, so fill your water bottle at the fountains scattered among the ruins .
Wear comfortable shoes to walk around the around the ruins as the site is massive.
make sure you download the app from the QR code in your ticket for ticket for the audio guide~Wi-Fi to use at the entrance~download everything before starting your tour~phone battery is full
There is so much to see here it can be overwhelming. Make sure you bring your own lunch to avoid eating at their one and only cafeteria on the grounds .
incredible by nature but very far from spectators in terms of curation. Lot of barriers and not very preserved. Understandable, it's the main attraction and it's been years since the opening.
History Buffs: If you're visiting Naples, don’t miss Pompeii, where you can explore the ruins of a Roman city buried by volcanic ash from the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79. Read more
Long Walk, get a big bottle of water and keep filling it up on the way. It's incredible hot and the map is confuse. Be prepare to get lost. I did the 3 hours walk and didn't see it all. Lov it!
Amazing history. So interesting. Stick to the central and left hand side of the map - it's where the most interesting buildings are!
Get a book guide( the map provided is not enough), a bottle of water (which you can refill in the site) and comfy shoes . Allow 3-4h for exploration of this fantastic place!
Take the day, get comfortable shoes , water and snacks ! You'll find pizza and beer and ice-creams there also! Prepare that some places might be closed for preservation! Definitely worth it.
Amazing tour . Be sure to fill up on water BEFORE it starts though. You may not get a chance until near the end (depending on your route through the city ).
Amazing experience, you need all day to walk the whole thing. Download the rick stevens app for a free walk tour . It's a great tour we did it and saved money on guided tours
A must see. We had a great and funny guide. If it's not on your bucket list, add it!
You can get a 12e tour for 2 hrs from the station. Worth having a guide who will point out all the great spots and key facts.
A lot to take in and understand from a few millennia ago. Prepare with lots of snacks and water. Consider spending the whole day, a few hours only scratches the surface
Great sight however if you can only go to one place I would recommend Herculaneum as it is more condensed and preserved.
An absolute must. One of the most surreal places on earth. It’s an entire city , so be prepared to spend some time and bring a water bottle
Small piece of the Latin history, of European history. Absolutely recommended and our guide Maria are so respectful and attended for everybody!
Best to get guided tour as the area is vast and there’s lots of stories behind the ruins .
It's possible the maps and free guide booklet have gotten better, because we found both more than adequate to get around the site, no audio guide needed. Allow 3 hours at least!
Amazing, just amazing. Get there for opening to have an hour or so before the coaches all arrive
The site of Pompeii is huge. Make sure you have 3hours to roam around. There is couple of houses not to miss, so get yourself a lonely planet or a tour guide. The free map is not enough.
Fantastic but skip the transfer or anything they wanna sell at stazione. Just take a nice walk by the church and then left.
Walk in autumn requires a good coat, raincoat and umbrella. A snack and water or juice also makes the ride more enjoyable. Be sure to check the battery of your photographic camera and enjoy !!!
One of the greatest archeological sites in the world. Every corner is a treasure of art and history.
Booking a tour is a good idea. There is so much here that would be really hard to notice on your own.
Impressive and extensive ruins . You can easily spend a whole day there. Worth the entry fee.
Ancient Roman city in Naples, buried under the volcanic ash following the eruption in AD 79
Pompeii my dream trip come true. Words cannot describe it. However, I felt I had to honor the victims and pray for them. Yet it is historical and hallowed ground.
You must visit Pompei if you like history and arceology.you should read pompei's story.Destruction of a rich city by eartquake and fire eruption.
Pompei is a must see for anyone going to Italy. I wish we would have had more time to spend there
Charming place ????????area is really big it is better to plan the visit for more hours -3 and more to see everything.
Amazing place, obviously, and is totally worth a visit. But don’t do it without a guide (as we did).
The biggest and the most beautiful archeological place ever!enjoy the history and the atmosphere of the ancient Roman city
The long walk to the Villa de Misterii is worth going there! You pass the fantastic graves of rich inhabitants! Get an audioguide!!!
Amazing history and needs atleast 4 hours with a guide.. Give attention to details while visiting..you will be in awe..
In one of the corners of the excavations of Pompeii, you'll find this beautiful structure hosting am exhibition of photos and artifacts. - Salvatore De Carmine
Pompeii was a fantastic trip to make. So much to see and we only had 1.5 hours. Would love to go back someday when I have more time to explore and it’s hot so hot. - Greg Fuller
A very nice spot with Vesuvio in the background watching. - Michael B.
Hermoso lugarrrrr - Rona.
Görülmesi gereken inanılmaz yer - Emel Uzuner
Good food, great service. A bit touristy and more expensive than many restaurants in Italy. Try the spaghetti puttanesca. - Sebastien P
