The Museo Galileo (before 2010 known as the Institute and Museum of the History of Science , IMSS, Italian: Istituto e Museo di Storia della Scienza) is based in Florence close to the Uffizi Gallery .
Truly cool change of pace museum highlighting scientific apparatus from the 14-1900's.
Lots of artifacts , zero real context. Don't expect to learn much about Galileo or science. Quiet and cool if you need a break from the more intense museums , though.
It was founded in 1927 by the University of Florence. It is located in the Piazza dei Giudici. Among the more famous of its collections is the middle finger from the right hand of Galileo Galilei.
It's fine. They don't contextualize Galileo's contributions much. A lot of cool artifacts of various centuries (including Galileo's thumb + finger!) But if it's your first time in Florence, skip it.
Coma inducing museum . Count the number of visitors sleeping on comfy benches .
Great to see historical science instruments. Not crowded at all.
Excellent selection, well explained in both English and Italian.
Locate along Arno river bank ,near the centre & Uffizi museum
Very smelly place and guess what, Italians invented every thing and gave us a better life ????
Take time to experience some science yourself at the end of the exhibition
Very good museum that isn't about art ! Lots of interesting history about time, space and science in general.
Amazing collection of beautifully crafted scientific instruments
Extensive collection of world's earliest measurement instruments and machines.
They have few bones of Galileo - middle finger of right hand , two fingers from left hand and a tooth.
Bring your ticket from another State museum from Florence for €2 discount .
Cool science tools. Best brake after Vecchio and Uffizi .
Book in advance if possible. The queue is really long
10€ for get inside the museum
Small but rich museum
A nice science break after all the art and god.
Impressive Museum
Galileo's middle finger is kept here.
Super expensive . And they are full of little rules that are not very necessary for such an empty attraction .
There was nothing special. Especially the toys at the end of the tour were for kids. Waste of time and money.
Closed Tuesday afternoon
Look out for his finger!
Not so much history on Galileo, which was disappointing. A small museum .
Excellent Italian products , 12 gourmet shops , 500 seats, free WiFi : this is Mercato Centrale Firenze. Every day 10am-12pm.
