One of my best friends told me about this restaurant and I decided to go. I really enjoyed the food, the atmosphere, live music , and the decor.
The escargot and crab cake were both amazing! For entrees, both the chicken dishes were juicy and succulent! For dessert , get the chocolate heaven and the frozen cappuccino . You won't regret it!
I've loved this place for over 20 years, and it still doesn't disappoint. In. An area I'm not particularly fond of, this is "old school NYC " at it's core. Good, reliable food, piano playing, reliable.
Try the prix fixe menu and order trout ???????????????? and belgian endives salad ????????????????????
The spot is perfect for the Modern Courtesan living a luscious life..it's so sexy, fabulous, and French. There place is a delicious shrine to Josephine Baker . Stop in for some sexy nosh !
Crab cake was superb... dessert was on point. Fantastic live piano music . We were among latest dinner guests, no coffee . That was the only disappointment.
The steak frites is good, mushroom ravioli and desserts are great! The ambiance is wonderfully old school charming
Try to come when they have live music , one of my favorite restaurants in NYC... Try the Duck , Salmon , Onion Soup ....
Old school NYC dining in midtown - hard to come by these days! GET: Steak , asparagus and creme brulee
Jean-Claude Baker named this classy comfort food restaurant after his mother. The Southern Fried Chicken and anything chocolate are reminiscent of home.
Excellent food and service. Beautiful ambience and some scandalous decor.
The inside artwork and chandeliers are quite beautiful. Great pianist . Skip appetizers and order the roast duck .
I love the Paintings on the wall there.
Absolutely have the crab cakes . They are amazing. And come see Eric play on Tuesdays and Wednesdays... old standards you've never heard before.
The food is excellent. It is a wonderful place to have any meal.
Come here during restaurant week, order the classics and get tipsy on a bottle.
Live music and try the crab cake - nice decor as well

Boudin noir - Mon Dieu! But only for very serious sausage devotees. Not for the faint of heart bien sur.
Excellent and good music
Pâté is fab, enough for two and love the crab cakes .
Never come right before a Broadway show (8pm). It's crazy busy!
Truly ol New York...great bartender on our night..
Great family time. Read the owner's book on J. Baker !
Chris Moltisanti mentions he is going to take Adriana here on 3rd season of The Sopranos.
Great romantic place . And the piano player is great.
Beautiful place. Feels like Paris cabaret in 20th
Talk to the Piano player . He has a great story to tell!!
Good restaurant week choice.
Great spot for romantic dinner or pre show
Excellent chinese ravioli but take care of your coats!! They will ask you 2$ each on top of an already expensive bill...
Do not order beer ! It is served in a wineglas! Do not comment! It will end all servecing mind of the waiter in blue.
The cheese soufflé and the vanilla millefeuille are so delicious - Kimberley-Marie Blanchot
Everything is good at Lafayette. From the cocktails to the oysters to the baked goods to the lavishly presented slices of birthday cake, they always do a great job. Pictured is the Niçoise salad. - Lizzy Saxe
Gorgeous vibe. Sit in the room where the bar is. Good steak tar tar, NY steak was great - Inna G
