The official residence of the Governor of Puerto Rico. Built from 1533-1540 to defend the harbor of San Juan. The structure is also known as Palacio de Santa Catalina.It is the oldest executive mansion in the New World. It was listed by UNESCO in 1983 as part of the World Heritage Site.

Place is so windy. Ladies wear a pony tail, maybe a hat. Do not wear wedges/heels, the walkways are stone and brick.
Don't try to hop the fence; the guards are intimidating. Beautiful building though!

Try the walk outside the city wall from boat docks west to the Plaza and then up alongside the city walls. You arrive at the city gate, enjoy sitting under an amazing old tree and watch the waves. - John A
