This is a nice way to try out shojin ryori, traditional vegetarian Buddhist meals. You are served in a very spacious and serene traditional Japanese room in the temple .
Amazing meal for vegans visiting the bamboo grove. Simple Buddhist food, artfully prepared. Had no problem eating without a reservation at 11am when they opened. 3000 yen meal was plenty of food.
This restaurant is located inside of Tenryu-ji. So you must enter Tenryu-ji. with 500 yen (Entrance fee). Alcohols is offered.
Set vegan meals for ¥3,000, ¥5,000 and ¥7,000. The second two need to be booked at least one day in advance by calling ahead in Japanese (if you can't speak Japanese get your hotel to do it ^_^)
More than a meal, this was a lovely experience! Must try for Vegans visiting Kyoto!

beautiful place. there are a small cafe that offer outside or inside Japanese house. they serve tea and sugar cake . the sugar cake are awesome and you can by more for home. and they expire in 10 days - Mohammad ????????
