Tenryuji (天龍寺, Tenryūji) is the most important temple in Kyoto 's Arashiyama district. It was ranked first among the city 's five great Zen temples , and is now registered as a world heritage site.

Wonderful temple which used to be the emperor’s palace . Beautiful view with the autumn leaves falling. Entrance for the garden and temple is ¥800 per person. Come early to avoid crowd.

This place would be best when the gardens are in full bloom. Don't pay to go inside the building. It doesn't add much to the experience. Stick to the gardens then head to bamboo forest .

天龍寺の庭園 は曹源池 を中心とした池 泉回遊式庭園 で、夢窓疎石の作庭。日本で一番最初の特別名勝及び史跡 、法堂は釈迦三尊像 (重文) を本尊とし天井の雲龍図は有名。木造釈迦如来坐像 (大方丈安置)、遮那院御領絵図や往古諸郷館地之絵図 (以上重要文化財 ) 等、多数の文化財を所蔵。平成6年 (1994年 ) 【古都京都の文化財】 の一つとしてユネスコ世界遺産 (文化遺産) に登録されている。

臨済宗天竜寺派の大本山であり山号は霊亀山、開山は足利尊氏と夢窓疎石、正称は天竜資聖禅寺。暦応2年 (1339年 ) 後醍醐天皇の菩提を弔うため足利尊氏が亀山殿の地に創建され、落慶供養は康永4年 (1345年 ) 行われた。足利将軍家と桓武天皇ゆかりの禅寺として壮大な規模と高い格式を誇り、京都五山 の第一位。

京都五山 の寺格第一位。御朱印は手書きではなくスタンプなので、少しお安く ￥200。拝観料は本堂と庭園 合わせて￥600です（2015年 当時, 2022年 には拝観料は￥800に）。

Dicen que es el método más rápido de acceder al bosque de bambús. No sé si es cierto pero merece más la pena el temblo que el bosque . Demasiada gente entre los bambús haciéndose selfies.

생각보다는 그저 그런 사찰 . 메이지시대 재건했다는 데 포인트가 있다. 젠스타일과 과대망상이 믹스된 느낌. 절에 왜 궁전에나 있는 정원이 있고 넓은 마루의 전각들이 있는지. 자꾸 궁전인줄 착각하게 됨

百花苑の先にある北門から竹林の小径に抜けられます。再入場は不可。

建物、池 、鯉、庭などがとても良い。
