One of the most incredible yet dangerous places in Iceland. Awesome views including caves , basalt columns , and rock towers everywhere. Stay away from the water; sneaker waves are no joke. A must see!

Kate Furman

Very cool black sand beach . It can get very windy at times. The waves are huge and can sneak up on you !!

Aaron Watford

A great place to take pictures and enjoy the black sand but be very careful of the tide. Take a lot of pictures. Ask for the story about the pillars of black sand in the water.

Michael Fuchs

This place has a mysterious feel but the large crowds you‘ll meet here can easily spoil it. Come early or late, stroll along the beach and take your time to catch the special atmosphere.

Lisa Starbucks

Beautiful beach but be aware - the waves are strong and a big. First thing we saw was a family being too close to the waves and their son got dragged out. Watch the waves!

Mithat Perkoz

Another must see place in South Iceland, enormous waves hitting black sand beaches and nice geometry on the mountains make this place unique!

Zeke Koch

Amazing Basalt Beach . Definitely one of the highlights of the trip. We spent a lot of time climbing around the rocks.

Karin Gattringer

Love this place, take a bit of a walk towards the arch to have the beach to yourself and avoid the hoards of tourists coming in buses .

Majed Alashari

You can’t swim — the water is close to freezing, the rip currents are herculean, and there are deadly rogue waves — but the scenery is legendary. Read more

Fantastic rock formations , don't get too close to the sea, rouge waves are a big thing here.

Patricia Mendes

It was so beautiful that I could barely explain... just come! And be vert careful about the waves!

Xinnie

Nice rock formation and all but the day we went in April, it was hella windy and was borderline unpleasant.

Rafael Marin

The rock formations are uncanny. It's hard to believe that nature itself could create such a perfect geometry.

J W

The basalt columns and subsequent black beach surroundings are gorgeous and unique!! Stay away from the waves.

Daphne Goon

Black sand beach . And there's a rock formation too.

Josh Wood

A must-see if you're visiting Iceland. Unique place.

Andrew Vino50 Wines

Super amazing spot. Make sure you see the view from both sides...from the town of Vik and from the other side.

Zach Stockwell

Don't get remotely close to the water. The tides will suck you in and you will drown.

Frank Rimalovski

Go. You've never seen anything like it before. Pictures can't do it justice.

Colton Groves

Watch out for the large waves sometimes every 5-10 minutes. They come out of nowhere and could take you with them.

I heart Reykjavík

Don't go too close to the sea, especially not if you are going to turn away from it because then you won't see the big waves coming that will leave you wet for the rest of your trip!

David Holtz

Try to go early or late in the day so its less mobbed with tourists .

Jorge Paiva

Nice black sand beach . Rock formations are also nice

Jean-Pierre Levac
