If it's a miserable day or you have a decent amount of time in Rotorua head to the museum , plenty to see and learn about. Well laid out and easy to navigate.

Awesome building with a lot of history. Neat displays. Go to the roof to see all of Rotorua and the crater we live in! Locals get in free.
Try to join one of the guide tours . This way you make the most of your visit. They depart every hour.

Be prepared to pay $18+ if you want to go to this museum . Highest prices I've seen.

Worth it. Arrive at the time to do the cultural dance (book ahead), it finishes just in time to do the free guided tour right after. Great non profit keeping Maori culture alive. - Nabeel Hyatt
