This museum began its life as the administrative building of the city hall . Its architecture is a fusion of Chinese and Japanese styles .
It's free of charge, but the majority of the exhibition is in Classical Chinese only. You can ask the staff who is more than happy to tell you about parts of the exhibition if you can speak Chinese
日本統治時代の1939年に高雄市 役所として建設 。1998年から博物館 となりました。二二八事件時の虐殺事件の現場の１つ。Old City Hall, built in 1939, Japanese ruled era. At 228 Incident in 1947, Many people killed by army. Now used as History museum since 1998.
It used to be the 2nd railway station in Kaohsiung city. Now it's a nice place for flying a kite, biking, or simply a walk. You may reach Pier 2 art center from here by walk. - Shell Syue
