Wonderful architecture . Try to sit in the orangery in the Summer. Great real ale & value food.
Been here since forever!!! Great in any weather. Love the breakfast , menus changed over the years, but definitely much cheaper than other pubs in the area. No 1 breakfast place on a monthly basis.
During warmer weather - sit outside and soak up the atmosphere. Decent range of beer and decent prices ( look for the special offers) - good meeting place.
I am no Wetherspoons Junkie but this is a great place with inetersting features like a carving of a girl (I think) sliding down the banisters. The orangery is impressive and Wetherspoons prices.

Classic student haunt with good (cheap ) food. Make sure to head outside in the summer and get Sunday roasts (go large)

I've read some unfair comments about this hotel, is a little tatty and aged but that gives it character. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good. A good bet for those on a budget. - Chris Priest
