Galle Fort is a historic and protected site Galle located in Sri Lanka.
Southwestern Sri Lanka Galle 80000 Sri Lanka
The Venice of Sri Lanka! One of the most picturesque cities ever! A world heritage site! A place to chill and play! Also Sri lanka's highest real estate value. I love Galle. It's my home. ❤️❤️❤️
Can get scorching hot between 10am and noon. Be prepared to see couples making out in dark corners and condom sachets littered! Nice place for a stroll and a king coconut drink will help after.
The best place in Galle to visit for not only the historical value of the site. Most ideal time frame to visit would be after 5.30pm till dawn. I gurantee it would be worth all the money you spend
This area is really great with old architecture . Don’t waste your time at the fort and lighthouse , the best stuff is on all the little streets!
Nice and cute town with its little coffee places and shops. Bear in mind that every single local will try at any cost to get some roupies from you. One told me that he was the cook of my hotel .
Top 3 things to do: 1) visit historical structures (fort, church , lighthouse , etc); 2) explore labyrinth of lanes/shops; 3) evening drinks/cocktails @ 1 of hotels (Amangalla, Rampart , Fort Galle)
You can never run out of things to explore here! So many historic places of interest, great architecture , good food (my favourite is Pedlar's Inn ) and antique jewellery shops.
One of the greatest places in busy Galle. A lot of restaurants and shops. Try Indian Hut for meal. Stick No Bills shop for postcards and posters. Spa Ceylon for cosmetics .
What a sweet surprise! An oasis in the middle of hectic Galle city . Well maintained buildings, nice shops and delicious cafe and restaurants
Lovliest place in galle ! Nice views ,tasty foods etc etc.Greatest place to have chit chats ;)
Loads of great shops and restaurants . Fantastic place for an evening stroll. Finished by the Dutch in the 1600's including 14 round coral and granite bastions. A must see.
Great for long walks and beautiful view of the sea. A must visit for history buffs.
The place takes you back in time, still very idyllic and unhurried. Just the place that you want to go when to unwind or to shop for retro trinkets !
Lovely stroll around, especially at dusk when all the locals come to join
I was expecting old boring "same as everywhere" fort and I was wrong! It is more like small European city with streets, cafes and art galleries . Nice vibes, scenic view .
A must visit in down south . Sun set, the restaurants , beautifully renewed allys, everything is perfect. Amazing photo location.
Great place to have a walk in the evening with the sun setting along side.
All restaurants & cafe don't serve alcohol . Except for 3-4 hotels , most don't hv liquor license. Apparently incidents in the past (drunkedness, fights). Authorities wanna keep Fort area safe & clean
Go stroll the streets, there are many shops and cafés . You almost feel like you are in a part of Portugal. Very touristic but a must-see.
It takes abt 3hrs by car to get to Galle Fort from Colombo's Bandaranaike Intl Airport . The highway made the journey a smooth & pleasant one
Architecture from the colonial days unchanged and preserved, number of bistros and restaurants , museums , beaches
Best place in the world to hang-out in evening with family or loved ones
Absolutely gorgeous UNESCO World Heritage site/city. Great place to spend a few days!
No need to take those annoying tuk-tuks at the railway station. Galle Fort is a 5 minute walk. Plenty of decent places to stay within the Fort
Great place to spend a day or two wandering through the city and checking out the sights.
Go to beach near light house, Dutch hospital complex and rampart
Say hello to the snake man:) he's so creepy but his monkey is creepier than him:) you may enjoy the city
Awesome place - nice food, beautiful sightseeing
Really nice place. Must visit if you stay here.
There is a small stairway to sea on one of the towers. Swim and feel like a pirate :-)
Go there at night.. Specialy poya day ( full moon ).. Sea wind.. Panaromic view ... And moon light will make a perfect heaven.
If there was a 'coolest place in Sri Lanka to live' contest, the fort would be near the top. The highway has vastly improved access
Nice place for walking. Amazing view .
Try to go early morning or evening as walk on the wall can be torturous when sun is at its peak.

Great place. Very colonial . Nice shops and restaurants .
amazing place that I've ever visited
Really beautiful. But too hot. April 2016
Gradually changed. Refurbishment has done its nice. Beach .. has to think. Has to limit for public.
Best place to be at sun down!
Beautiful especially at dusk. Best views are on the rampart side as you don't see the rather plain attached blockhouse. Steps away from the rampart with an amazing sunset view! - Simple Discoveries
Expensive shops and restaurants, but great dining choices and amazing views. - Ankur Banerjee
