It took 14 years and a team of 400 sculptors, led by Gutzon Borglum, to complete this massive "Shrine of Democracy," dedicated in 1941.
I was expecting a much more noisy and commercial place. Instead it was well made, lots of information presented in a tasteful way. Clean and nice architecture . And proper quality in shops. Go there!
Walk around the park ! There's a trail that takes you closer to the monument , a must see! Also, if you drive on by car it's $11 for a year pass!
Must see. Beat the crowds by going early in the morning. Only a $10 parking fee for each car. Great vantage points from everywhere. President 's trail is nice walk.
1000% worth the trip. Stay in keystone so you can come back to watch the evening show and see the monument lit up.
This monument is purely amazing. Take the time to walk the Presidents Trail , watch the movie , and browse the museum . It’s worth every minute.
Always one of the highlights of my trips to the Black Hills . Go in the morning for the best shots of the Presidents before the sun casts more shadows on the faces.
It's still really nice to see in winter and there are lots of things to do in the surrounding area. Plan to be around for a couple of days!
This is a must see location at least once in your lifetime.
Worth the view of the video! But, if you have large hips/are heavy set don't expect to be comfy . Seats in theater are made for smaller people. Gorgeous!
When you go, make sure you visit the Presidential Museum in Keystone, and then go to the Ranger program at night,
Purchased the $80 National Park Annual Pass at a different NP which says valid at any federal recreation site. Well guess what this federal recreation site is NOT included! $11 entrance fee!!
If available, try Thomas Jefferson 's Vanilla Ice Cream , made from the third president 's own recipe!
This is a must for everyone's bucket list. In my opinion, the night "light show" is NOT worth coming back to see.
Beside the monument itself and video historyn sure to check out both the gift shop and the book store ! Also, tasty food in the Carver's Cafe
It's not a single attraction - there's lots to do and see! Plan on spending at least two or three hours exploring.
Rupiah have to pay for parking , so it encourages you to walk around the monument rather than just stop for a photo!

The presidents ' noses are 20 feet long, each mouth is 18 feet wide, and each eye is 11 feet across. Only 17 miles away is the Crazy Horse memorial, which is the largest outdoor sculpture in the world.
If you're only here for a quick photo and want to avoid the parades of tourists , there's a free parking pullout on the upward slope . It's very small and only fits 5-6 autos.
Must see while in South Dakota! Still an amazing experience.
You can take your dog up to where you can see the monument to take a pic but not into park .
The ice cream is delicious but HUGE sizes!! Not bad priced.
Take time to walk the Presidential Trail that will lead you to the base of the monument , directly below the four famous faces. And - keep your eyes open for sure-footed mountain goats !
One of a few thousand people authorized to climb to the top of Mt. Rushmore in 1995. I met Governor Walter Dale Miller as he was descending the monument with his family.
The gift shop has amazingly cheesy stuff! :) Lots of interesting stuff to look at.
Everything is great here. Both the monument and the park leave you speechless. Such a wonderful place to spend some good quality time.
Take the presidential trail down to the artists studio for amazing views and a separate national parks pass cancelation.
Definitely worth the trip. Getting there at sundown is great lighting for pictures
I have been here an its an amazing place. The Presidents walk is wonderful an at night the Presidents memorial gets lit up with lights after an educating speach.
If visiting in the summertime start out with the hike around the mountain , then cool off in the museum and gift shops . Super informative and fun!
Contrary to what has been said credit cards ARE accepted. I used a Visa for park entrance and an Amex for Gift Shop (next to cafe ) purchses.
You could spend 20 minutes here and feel like you've seen everything. It's a check-this-off-the-list type place.
Check out the gift shop if you want some sweet souvenirs!
The monument and sculptor's studio are awesome!
Try the vanilla ice cream ...it's Thomas Jefferson 's recipe.

The staff there is super friendly ! I would recommend taking Needles Highway to and fro for a wonderful time.
George Washington, Thomas Jefferson , Theodore Roosevelt and Honest Abe Lincoln--the gang's all here! Read more
If you have been here once, do you need to go again? The way it has become so commercialized really takes away from the experience! Plan to spend a lot of money...
$11 fee for "parking " at the top. They accept credit cards. Parking Level 3 is easiest but not covered.
Very nice. A must see in your life time. Very professional.
For a more remote and much less crowded view of the monument , head out on Iron Mountain Road , about a mile up the hill from Wolf People Campgrounds .

The program at 8:00 is very well done. A Park Ranger gives a short talk. Then there is a movie (patriotic feel) ending with the National Anthem. Then all Veterans are invited to the stage. - Richard Dragicevich
