Buy an opera discount card (!!)-you are going to save a lot of money and get nice seats. And I've noticed lack of culture in the audience: loud sneezing, caughing and other irritateful noises.

Out of three times I've visited, I liked only Bayaderka and The song of Nibelung. Mezzanine and the first floor are ok, but everything above is too bad. Small and always full theater . Like it
Great atmosphere and amazing performances - both ballet and opera. Ask for the outdoor performances in June and July.
One of the most beautiful buildings in Sofia. All the shows I attended were of a great class . However there is desperate need of an air conditioner.

Operas have English surtitles and are sung in their original language (Italian, German, Russian etc.) Singers and stageing are top-notch!
