You can get a lot closer to the exhibits than you'd expect and really see some amazing history up close. Many exhibits , especially Tut are on tour often though, and may not be onsite when you visit.
Camera must be left at the reception near to the courtyard 's entrance but you can bring your mobile with you. Lots of amazing items and just few labels: take a private guide if you want to know more.
If you can get a good deal on a private tour (you can) it's worth it here.. Nothing is marked or labelled too well and it would be easy to miss some amazing backstory on many things.
The best museum i have ever visited, the Content and the size of the things here are indescribable! Don't forget to check the mummies that needs special tickets
You'd better be ready for a long journey in the museum ! Its HUGE and something that you have never seen before! Make sure you have a brochure because there are not many explanations
Even if you have to pay extra, the royal mummy room is a must. Sunday’s evenings museum is open, ticket is more expensive but it is less crowded .
This is not museum , here is living history. A visit to Egypt is not compmleted without visiting Egyptian Museum .
It's LE100/adult to enter & LE50/photo license, which you don't really need (no one ever asked to see ours). Photos not permitted in mummy exhibits and of King Tutankhamun's death mask. Huge museum !
You get to go there and watch, touch, enjoy everything there for as long as you want. Although pictures aren't allowed with tut's mask and Royal mummies it is also possible if you are sneaky.Cool too.
Go the 1st time with a guide who can show you the highlights. Then return to see specific exhibits that might interest you. It’s a lot to see; the royal mummies and king Tut’s jewels are breathtaking.
The pieces are displayed with no particular order, some very important pieces are missing description. I liked the Greek department and how they managed to mix the Egyptian gods with the Greek goods
There is little curatorial commentary and guidance. I found this book "The Illustrated Guide to the Egyptian Museum " ($40 at Diwan bookstore in Zamelek) to be very useful .
Great place for egyptologists and people who love ancients Egypt history. It’s needed more than 9 month to see all the museums if invest 40 seconds for each exhibition .
You need a minimum of two days here. No audio guides so come the first day preferably with a guide and touch the important spots. Reserve another day when you can go around at your own pace.
A good place in the downtown to know what Egyptians' lives most probably looked like thousands of years ago; the new museum is being constructed near Pyramids in Giza.
Enjoy museums ? You’ll find a lot of interesting historical things in here. The museum is located in the middle of the city so be sure to grab a bite nearby before or after!
Definitely go here with a tour guide to get the maximum education and experience from this incredibly old and amazing museum . Mina from Ramasside tours is a great one to ask for!!
This museum needs to important and put more information about Artifacts And take care to cool the place
It includes the world’s most extensive collection of Pharaonic antiquities . The most popular symbol of the museum is the burial mask of King Tutankamun. The mask is made of 24 pounds of solid gold.
This museum is much bigger than you'd expect with a multitude of exhibitions and mummies - fascinating. Can get really busy but worth the crowds
Go here if you want to see treasures of Tutankhamun, remains of Ramses III, mummy of Queen Hatshepsut, many other mummified pharaohs, and an impressive collection of papyrus and coins.
Check the hours before you visit as these change during Ramadan, with an early closing and a later opening on some days.
Huge & Nice place .. deserve to visit it ????????
Don't assume the museum is open until the official closing time. See everything important first and leave at least one hour before big groups of thugs start strongarming everyone out
I love this place..but you cant see and remember all monuments inside with just one visit! you need to go at least 3 times ...
At the right inside the front door there is what appears to be The Rosetta Stone (it has no sign). It is not; the Rosetta Stone is in the Brotish Museum .
The Egyptian museum is one of the best places you can ever visit, it is Ancient Egypt in a building.
The ground floor is organized by eras until the greco-roman period and the special rooms with the royal jewelry are really good!
It’s fascinating, but there’s not a lot of guidance as how to go around. There are guide books available, but at the shops as you go out of the museum ! I feel they could have done it a lot better.
One of the best museums that I have ever visited in my life !!!
One of the most amazing museums I've been to. Be ready to travel back in time!
Great museum I enjoyed seeing the mummies. It is an interesting experience for me and the kids
Bring a lot of water, there a path for the visit, royal mummies in the 1st floor are with fees, Fans only no A/C except in some special rooms, one day could be not enough so take good rest before
i had been there several times but it isnt enough never.if u visit cairo u should be there, tutankamons chamber is really beautiful
So much to look at. Give yourself minimum two hours.
All Foreigner Students!! Bring your student ID card :) To enter the museum , you will pay 35 pounds & the royal mummies room 75 pounds! otherwise, you will pay double :(
Must see. Take a private guide - it saves a lot of your time, namely 1,5 hours instead of 3-4 in group. The cost is about the same as tickets.
Happy New Egyptian Year, which is the 6259th Pharaonic year.
Loved to see all these mummies and sculptures . The jewelry collection is amazing. Would go back anytime.
A must see when in Cairo. Amazing pharonic and other history here
I recommend go to The Egyptian Museum if you travel to Egypt ! I attached the link with a photo! Do you know Plaza Science? Is a social network for people who likes science and photography Read more
come early to the museum because you got a lot of things to see. It took me 5 hours to see nearly most of what's in the museum
There is no air conditioning ,so the hot weather will ruin the experience for you.
This is the old museum . The new site is nearby. It's expected to accommodate twice the present showpiece capacity.
Marvelous in all aspects, Thousands of years back in time alive in front of your eyes
The museum is huge. There are great pieces there but it is poorly maintained which is such a shame.
Ancient Egypt in a box.
Check out the mask of King Tut , and be sure to check out the animal mummy room. Creepy, but still cool. Take pics in the courtyard before you check-in your camera . Read more
A good place if you are into history, I bit clumsy and the circulation inside is not clear. Hagel hard with the tour guide.
In the middle of the city ! You’ll find a lot of interesting historical things in here.
Incredible artifacts and obviously the mummies in incredible condition - Nuno Carvalho
What an amazing visit! Really touching To see the pyramids and sphinx!!! Worth every cent spent - Karla Tepedino
