If you need to shop stay in the area before entering the passports control, right after check in procedure. If you pass customer passport side you only have duty free and 1 Caffe -

Red Rocks have huge cheap helpings. Upsize the coffee to a trough of caffeine and don't expect to sleep on your flight, or anywhere else at your destination for that matter.

Best place for a quiet drink and good food is the upstairs bar/cafe above Mojo at city end of terminal.

WLG arrivals: no obvious place to buy new local NZ-based SIM for mobile. Already had existing prepaid-SIM w/ VodafoneNZ; purchased $20 top-up at convenience-shop near Subway in baggage-claim area

Be prepared and bring two sets of thermals as you can always take them off and they don't take up much space. It's more fun when warm ;-)

Check out Red Rocks - they do cheap combos of pie and chips for $8.50 or pie , chips , and drink for $11.50 - very yummy! :)

Grab a seat on a shuttle bus into the city - cheaper than a taxi and super friendly drivers

Watch the planes taking off and landing, in the terminal or try the nearby hill further down Stewart Duff Dr to get a good view .

Warning: announcements are completely inaudible in the ladies' restroom . Great design, airport architects.

Eat before you go through security as there is only one cafe with really limited meal options - they are more like snacks !!

The Mojo Coffee cafe has an upstairs and great Pizza ; order a latte and a pizza and chill up top whilst you wait for your flight.

Small and fast, security mostly at the gate. Very pleasant experience.

Been here quite a bit lately the new terminal looks crap from outside but when in it its amazing :)

On Arrival from SYD easily the longest wait I've had to get to customs. Four flights landed and only a few staff on. Clean and friendly but be prepared for a long wait .

Remember to pay your $25 departure fee! airport flyer to/from city is $8.50 one way. friendly folks !

Try the aeroplanes. Much faster than the buses .
