The new building of National Museum was opened by the former president Mr.Mohamed Nasheed on July 26th 2010.The foundation stone was laid by the former president Mr.Maumoon Abdul Gayoom on 12 Nov 2007

The First National Museum of Maldives was inaugurated on 19th November 1952, 1st Rabee-ul Awwal 1372 AH (Maldives National Day) by the then Prime minister, Mohamed Ameen Didi.
