Make sure you get in at the right time for animal encounters for interesting trivia . The volunteers & zookeepers are very helpful - so ask them anything! The enclosures are very thoughtfully designed.
Well laid out and planned. Lovely for families to visit. Evening zoo times and tickets can be much cheaper.
A great zoo actually. Good place to see New Zealand wildlife also if you are a visitor without an opportunity to travel the country
Animals are adorable, great for family! It would be great if the signages are more visible.
In summer and during holidays the zoo is packed and the 2 car-parks are full by 10am so if you're driving be prepared to walk from wherever you find to park !

The watering hole is a great stopping point on a hot day. Maybe bring togs for the kiddies

If you want to see kiwi - try to come between 1:30-2:00 it's their feed time.
You won't probably see a Kiwi , still is a great Zoo with great habitats and great animals to see.

New water play area near the Elephants is a bit sharp, but great on's hot day!
It is a great place to visit and make you realize that people are not the only inhabitants of the earth~~
Be right time here. We got the opportunity to feed the elephant !
You can't beat Pridelands zone where Giraffes roam with Zebras in the open...

Huge park with lots of paths for cycling, walking and running. Plenty of beautiful birds and make sure you check out the eels by the small bridge. But avoid the grass. There is bird poo everywhere. - Steven Harrison
