Always always always check the clearance rack. You never know what you'll find - exquisite chocolates to canned crabmeat that is pretty good for crabcakes and much more.
Best grocery store for significant savings - key items that are lower in price in comparison to Walmart/Meijer are: butter, milk , eggs & meat. Others vary, do your own comparison! :)
If there's not a Trader Joe 's in the area, try Aldi. Good meat and vegetables along with some interesting finds!
Be sure to have a quarter handy for the cart. Their reusable bags are $2 and extra roomy with a nice plastic insert for the base. Aldi is owned by same parent company as Trader Joe 's.
