Great little portrait museum , there's a tiny sign with a number you can call to get detailed historical info on the building just as you walk up the stairs on the right.
Completed in 1824, this Greek Revival structure was home to the Second Bank of the United States until 1836.
After checking out the 200 or so rare historic portraits , take a few steps away to the Signers ’ Garden , with geometrically patterned raised flower beds, walking paths , a pergola and a fruit orchard.
Beautiful inside and out. Enjoyable portraits .
Modeled after the Parthenon in Athens, Greece, it now serves as a portrait gallery for Independence National Historic Park .
Inside the Portrait Gallery are paintings of 50 out of the total 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence
All of the paintings are originals, including possibly the only contemporary portraits of Meriwether Lewis & William Clark.
There are free Park Service ranger talks here daily. They are not well advertised, but are well worth the time.
