The 84-year-old museum houses the most comprehensive Maori and Pacific Islander art collection in the Southern Hemisphere: graphic textiles; war canoes ; even whare (traditional Maori meeting houses).
One of the best museums I visited in the world. The historic part and the geographical living periods are must visit ????. Fo museum lovers, 3 hours is not enough to see everything.
Go at sunset and enjoy some fantastic photo opportunities across the city and of the classic old museum with the coloured lights - one of the most beautiful buildings and surrounds in the city

Really solid museum with some relics of war you won’t see in the US or EU. Not as good as the Wellington museum for Maori history, though.

Beautiful setting. Iconic for locals. Well worth a visit for anyone out of town .
There's so much to see, don't rush your visit. It's better to enjoy some of it rather then rush past all of it.
A lot of stuff to see in here. That said, it was difficult to know what to look at and in what order. In general, the "story" seems to be missing throughout the museum .
Proud of the way Auckland have turned this into a showcase of NZ. Even the outside is breathtaking.

Arrived there late in the afternoon. They let me in. But kicked me out at 1700 on the spot. You need half a day to visit it.
Really enjoyed Maori cultural performance . Very informative and at the same fun.
Parking is a nightmare even if you get there 20 minutes before opening. Arrive an hour before (@9am) and spend some time at the duck ponds first.
History is great...you can spend the entire day if you get lost in the details.
Do the guided tour in one hour for all the highlights.

Was interesting but if the weather is good I would rather see outdoor attractions ... Great for a rainy day.

Parking is quite a nightmare. But it's ok if u are willing to pay for the indoor ones. Collections in the museum are great and probably the most tourist-friendly museum I've been thus far.
A good history museum . Could have a better storytelling.

Underground parking is not cheap , but nevertheless pretty convenient on a weekend.
Lots of interesting stuff to see.
The Weird and Wonderful room is great for kids.
Avoid the dome tour guides. Great for overseas visitors, but not what you want if you're a local. #trapped
