本能寺門前に薬種商として1663年（寛文3年）創業。屋号は儒学者・室鳩巣の命名によるもの。
日曜は休みですが前後の土月が祝日の場合 日曜も営業です。18時閉店。閉店時間前は裏口から出ることになります。
