When I visited, there were no food vendors and the souvenir shop wasn't open, but seeing the arch up close was pretty cool.
Take the trip to the top. It is worth the view !

Updated in 2018; impressive museum relating to St. Louis history from early 1700s. Tram was awesome, movie about the Arch construction was excellent. Kid friendly. - Lisa B.
I highly recommend going to the top. On weekends plan to be in line for hours. We went during the week in August with no lines and saw the sunset. BEAUTIFUL! The museum is interesting as well. - Robin Marolt
