It’s a park that felt like a zoo . The macaques weren’t in great condition. The trek up was lovely. Best time to go. Winter when the snow is fresh. Great for close-ups any thing else is a bonus!

Quite a long hike (40mins) to the park , but a very nice experience! Make sure you are prepared to the coolness of the mountain and the muddy road . You can get water for free at the lodge .

It takes around 20 min. to get to the park . It can get really muddy during spring so don't forget to take proper shoes with. The monkey are hilarious! ????????????

Buy the Snow Monkey 1-Day Pass @ Nagaden Nagano Station (underground, directly next to the JR Nagano Station). Easier than buying separate tickets for the train/bus; includes admission to the park

A must-go during winter or snow season! Hike for around 30-40 minutes (muddy at times), then a flight of stairs before the actual entrance itself. Buy the two-day Snow Monkey Pass prior to going here!

Long path up, but really nice area with many monkeys , they get close. I recommend to go on cold days to see a lot of monkeys inside the hot tub .

An absolute must visit, you get really close to the monkeys . Careful they don't steal your things! Winter with snow would be best but still good in summer. Walk up the Forrest route there in Summer.

If you are in Japan for the winter, YOU MUUUUST go to the monkey park ! The view and also the monkeys are worth it! ????

The snow monkeys are worth the trip. Quite a lot of visitors - actually more than monkeys , but still an excellent experience!

Wear a good snow boots in winter! It's around 45 mins walk in the snow forest ! Worth going to see the monkeys enjoying hot spring !

Visiting the macaques, to photograph them, was on my Bucket list! Sadly, it felt like a 2 star zoo . The area is fenced & frankly abit of a dump . Go when there’s Winter snow & bathing will be a bonus

Park opens at 9am but be prepared to wait for the monkeys to show up. For us, they showed up around 10am.

The monkeys weren't bathing , I think because it was 18 degrees outside. But they come really close and are very fun to watch!

Fun to see wild monkeys bath onsen. Think winter season is best time to visit place for many monkeys bath and place are not crowded .

Forest route a bit treacherous in winter. Lots of ice and very slippery. Plan to take your time and bring appropriate shoes . Walk is about 1.5 km. Says 30 mins but took 1 hr being careful.

Put your food and things in your pockets and even then some monkeys try to get it ;-) great place!

スノーモンキーで外国人に人気。冬場は雪の積もった登山道 を片道30分くらい歩くので、登山靴 推奨。

猿は可愛いけれど、そこまでの道が特に冬季はそれなりに危険なトレッキングコース になっているので、普通のスニーカーでは少し危険。アイゼンとまでは言わないがせめて滑り止めのきちんとしたものを。

上林温泉 バス停 より徒歩30分2016年3月9日天候雪。路面はツチでぐちゃぐちゃです。猿はかわいぃー。小猿を抱いたりしちゃってる。しかし外人ばかりだ。

お猿さん 温泉 に入ってあったかそう…と羨ましくなります。バス停 からの道のりは冬の時期はなかなか大変なので覚悟を持ってどうぞ。

やっぱり雪がチラチラしてる冬の方がお猿さん と湯けむり温泉 の絵が映えます♪寒いしちょっと歩くけど、行ってみる価値ありだと思う！

暑い日はさすがに猿も温泉 に入ってないけど、ウロウロしてて可愛いですよ。

山道を歩くので歩きやすい靴 がよさそう
