17 September: Ride London's free passenger ferry , chugging across the Thames between Woolwich and Silvertown every ten minutes during the day. A ferry has crossed here since the 14th century.
The crossing is fast, fun and free. Why not drop a £1 coin into the RNLI collection bucket on your way through ? The government doesn't give them a penny.
An interesting way to cross the Thames as a pedestrian . No real reason you'd be heading between Silvertown and Woolwich on foot if not just for the ride though.
If you are approaching the north access, be really careful you don't miss the left filter for the pier on the A117. Road signs here are rubbish.
Bike-friendly free ferry . What more could you want.
Free boat ride on the Thames . Pick a warm day and enjoy the ride
What a great way to cross the river . Hilarious the way it majestically spins across the thames . And it’s free too!
The over 100 year old derelict paid ferry can still be seen to the east of the current ferry .
What an outdated bit of transportation this is! A car ferry in the middle of a huge city . Slow cumbersome and expensive to run. If London had better planning this would have been a tunnel . Fun though!
relax and enjoy the ride. After all it is free for everyone and less prone to accidents unlike the tunnel
The ferry service is free!
Probably the only free transport in London
If you can't see the barrier, then don't assume you'll get on the next boat!
If only 1 ferry running it can be a bit slow....but still more fun than the tunnel !
Not just for cars & trucks ... a great way to cross the river as a cyclist or pedestrian too!
First time on the ferry ! :)
Keep pushing them if they are asleep while waiting.
never use if blackwall tunnel is closed and its hot out!
Отличное место для дневной прогулки.
The boat ride is fine and actually surprisingly quick and pleasant but the way of purchasing tickets at Grenwich is a complete and utter shambles! - Nick Page
Grab a drink and sit on the top deck and watch the boats go past - Richard Hobbs
Triple Roast on Sunday was pretty good; most impressed! Dingley Dell pork was the best of the 3, and a super-sized Yorkshire pud topped it off nicely. :-) - Chris B
Amazing infrastructure that keeps London dry during super tides. Great park beside it also. - Simon Saint
