【国 指定重要文化財 】...指定名称は『二条城 東大手門』...入母屋造、本瓦葺、櫓門の現在の門は寛文２年（1662）の建築 。慶長7年（1602）年の二条城築城当時から現在のような櫓門形式だったようですが、寛永3年（1626）9月の後水尾天皇の行幸の際には「天皇を上から見下ろさないように」との配慮から、わざわざ単層の高麗門に建て替えられたそうです。

二条城は，慶長7(1602)年徳川家康(1542～1616)の築城の命を受け，翌年完成。幕府の警衛と上洛時の宿所として使用された。寛永3(1626)年家光(1604～51)の代に改築して，現在の規模となった。慶応3(1867)年この城において大政奉還が上表された。 - eg eg
