Impressive museum . You get a much better understanding of the Minoan civilization from here than from Knossos. If you can only visit one of those then visit this museum

A must go to understand the minoan history. The first rooms are my favourite. Ask for the combo ticket to avoid the queue in Knosso palace if you want to visit both. Better be here around 10am.

Home of the famous Phaistos Disc ! Be sure to check out the snake ladies and murals from Knossos.

Lots of Minoan and Greek exhibits to be seen, need at least half a day, probably more, to see it all. Wonderfully set out with lots of information about each collection of exibits.

Really good collection esp if you like archaeology and social history. Sadly, half the exhibition was closed when I went. Minoan sculpture was stunning.

Only a temporary exhibition just now - the main stuff is being restored. It has been like this since 2007 so who knows when it will be finished

Nun endlich fertig&ein Pflichtpunkt in Heraklion. Wunderschöne Zusammenstellung der langen Geschichte Kretas. Gerade die Stücke aus der minoischen Zeit sind den Gang ins Museum wert. Nehmt euch Zeit!

Superbes collections mais très fréquenté . Il faut choisir les pièces à voir , il y en a tellement. Surtout le rêve de chausse et la première pièce du 1er étage

Die Funde sind sehr übersichtlich dargestellt und geben einen sehr interessanten Einblick in den jeweiligen Zeitabschnitt.

Sehr interessantes Museum - ein unbedingtes Muß! All die Fundstücke von den Orten die man auf Kreta sehen kann. Beeindruckend.
