The Heineman Winery was founded in 1888 by Gustav Heineman, an immigrant from Baden-Baden, Germany. The Lake Erie Islands were already noted for the quality grapes as a result of ideal soil conditions and the long growing season because of the tempering effect of Lake Erie.

Been here several times. It's a great winery , especially for people who like sweet wine . It's not for the dry enthusiasts or wine snobs. Cheese plate is great. Check out the other winery in PIB too.
get the Island Chablis wine , Chablis is a blend of white island grapes , medium in sweetness and bursting with lemon-lime flavors and aromas. and also the spreadable cheese and crackers so good...
Get the cheese plate ! Bottles are only 10 bucks. Split it with someone(get two) and it saves money rather than going to the bar and spending 20 bucks on just two drinks'
It's an interesting old island winery but be sure to also check out the crystal cave (a large geode underneath the winery that you can even walk around in!)
Go with the pink Catawba and a cheese plate . Then relax in the garden . Say "hi" to the cat.
