Tadao Ando designed museum with four exhibits , including Monet water lilies. The exhibits are actually all underground to let in natural light from above. A relaxed and focused integrated experience.
Different from any other museum you've ever been to. The combination of architecture , nature, light and art is just brilliant. Ando, Turrell, Walter De Maria and Monet make this place worth a visit!
I've been to museums all over the world and Chichu blows them all out of the water. One of the most memorable experiences ever. Don't miss the outdoor area by the café for beautiful sea views .
This is my favourite museum on the island . It is breathtaking - both, the building and the art instalations work in symbiose. You need to see it yourself, no words!
Underground museum . Love the concept of using natural light to change the way the art looks depending on time of day and season. Generally unheard of in most museums .
Amazing under-the-ground museum . Very immersive experience of Monet , James Turrell & Walter De Maris’s signature works. The natural lighting makes each experience unique, based on weather. A must-see.
Fave museum in the world. During busy season (Mar-Nov) book tickets online in advance, ideally for 1st entry. Plan to spend at least 1.5 hours and be blown away by Monet , de Maria, Turrell, & Ando.
This place is not to be missed. The architecture and art is amazing. Go early to avoid crowds.
One of the most interesting museums I have been to: perfect combination of architecture (Tadao Ando ) and art (Claude Monet , Walter de Maria and James Turrell ).
Love the architecture in this space especially the slit. It can get crowded during the later part of the day so get here earlier. Rent a bike from the port or take a bus .
One of the best museums I've been to. Architecture , nature and artworks are in an impressive harmony. It's quite expensive , but completely worth it.
Outstanding museum in an idyllic setting. Mind-blown!
This place is absolutely incredible. It's worth a trip just to see it. It's a bit expensive but it's a unique experience.
Beautiful art works by James Turrell , Claude Monet , etc. Architecture by Tadao Ando : a man in love with concrete.
just a visually stunning museum featuring works of 4 artists including monet . it's worth the trip
Worth the 2000¥, at least for Turrell and De Maria. Tadao Ando 's architecture is interesting as always. You might want to try the restrooms on the way to the cafe , with a weird but cool atmosphere.
This was what sublime was meant to describe. Worth the trip to art islands alone!
This place is incredible. It's expensive , I know, but seriously just pay it. You'll thank me later.
Best museum I've ever been to! You're asked to not use your camera/phone in order to fully experience the art , don't be the douche that thinks you should do it for the sake of your instagram timeline.
Worth the trip. Amazing art in a beautiful space- very immersive and gorgeous. Can’t take photos though.
Amazing space but really they need to let you have more time in James Turell's Open Field , 2 minutes is not enough!
coolest art museum ever! be sure to get web tickets in advance
One of the must-see museums of the world. Every detail from the architecture to each leaf is a piece of art
The best museum I've ever been to. Architecture , light and art in perfect harmony. Just go.
impressive atmosphere and the wonderful art interpretation, which enhance the artistic perception.
Best of the three big museums . Look at the floor of the Monet gallery ! Incredible!
Completely worth it. Pricey but the sensations and feelings you can get is amazing
You MUST make reservation in ADVANCE. The architect itself is one of the works of this museum .
Should be on your bucket list. Go here before you die.
Definitely worth it. Excellent use of space as art . Too bad no photos allowed.
What a beautiful museum . Go see Monet 's waterlilies like you have never seen them before.
Take your time here.
My favourite. Beautiful complimentary architecture . I feel like I finally "got" Monet
The museum 's nighto program takes quite a big of waiting as the actual 'show' starts after sun sets d you may have to wait up to 45mins for that to happen. But Ando-san's design is awesome!
Incredible!! But why "no photos"?? This posture is so oudated!
Wonderful museum ; beautiful architecture and great art installations
Doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside is an amazing experience.
Beautiful building and beautiful art and installations. Coffee is bad and expensive????
A must visit on Naoshima island . Spatial quality is phenomenal
Beautiful, peaceful gallery .
Best before noon. Smaller crowds, more peaceful .
Probably the one thing not to be missed on Naoshima!
Go early b/c you'll hate having others around. So peaceful
Wow. Just wow.
Space created with the art in mind. Fabulous!
Mind blowing! Amazing place.
Simply impressive!

beautiful architecture
pure magic
During the Setouchi Triennale, they'll only issue tickets 10 minutes before your reservation time, so no point in coming early. You can get snacks here or kill time at the nearby Lee Ufan museum. - Tamara Manik-Perlman
just order something and take a rest. the light changes when the cloud passes. after it, you can go out to the terrace and enjoy some sea view. (if the wind isnt that strong… - Yuan Nie
The garden is along the walk from the tickets to the museum. It's super pretty and important to view before heading in for the Monets inside! - Gregory Fisher
This museum is a great display of Ufan's work in a superb Ando construction, but if you're not into his work (it's not flashy)-and you have limited time-this would be a place to skip. I ❤️ it though! - Gregory Fisher
Beautiful space to walk around, and a great café. Free for hotel guests - Zack Kantor
When you see the water droplets start moving, you will be mesmerised - very unique experience of viewing art - Bryan Koo
Incredible. Try to go at sunset or a little later. - Alex Britt
