During summer it's open till 11pm. You can access the lower level of the tower from 9 to 11 for €2 more. The awesome views of the Duomo are absolutely worth it!

Go to the tower during sunset then wait 15 mins for this view - stunning. You can buy tower only tickets for EUR 10.
Do the tower climb for a great view of the Duomo (without the crowds!). The guided tours - ours was in English - are really interesting and make the place come to life.
You can buy a simple ticket to visit the roof with a nice view to the city & Cattedrale (rate is 8 euro for adult).

An impressive town hall , the museum is open until midnight, the square offers much entertainment and great atmosphere.

I was expecting this to be more impressive than it was. After seeing the best of Rome and Florence this didn't stand up. See it from the outside and maybe don't go in if you're pressed for time.
