A must do! plan the all day there! and if you can eat at the tapas restaurant in the evening! it will close the day with excellent food and cocktails , wine !
Allocate at least a couple of hours to browse through the galleries , as well as the outdoor pieces. Love the O app on the iPod that is provided during the visit. It's a beautiful museum .
Get there early. Go to death exhibition first to avoid queues. Enjoy lunch in one of several choices. During summer festivals , pop up food stands etc make this place come alive!
Amazing museum with not your ordinary art pieces. Take the MONA ROMA ferry from Brooke Street Pier to the gallery for a lovely day out on the water.
Amazing place. I could not recommend this place enough. Ferry ride in is part of the experience but plenty of parking available if needed. Changing all the time. Nudity and other adult themes.
Interesting and quirky museum . You can spend at least 2 hours here. The ferry ride was fun as well . A must-go.
Incredible museum (this is coming from a NY-er). Don't check it out if you're easily offended (overheard many parent age people saying they were a little put off by some of the sexxxxier things).
Well worth the time and money. Spend at least a day there & don't miss the self guided tour..."like" your favorites and they'll send you an email so you can follow up after your visit and relive it.
The most phenomenon museum with amazing exhibits , artist , indeed inventors from around the pangea ???? david Walsh he’s a genius.- indeed master architect Nodas Katsalidis
As much as I find modern "art " controversial, this is one of the best places I've visited. A treat for the senses and a must see in Tassie!
It's a must if you are visiting Hobart , even if only for a few days. The catamaran ride from the docks was fun and the staff on site are helpful and friendly .
Amazing and beautiful museum with so much to see and experience. Spend the whole day here.
This is an absolute gem of a museum from its architectural aspects to its wide and varied collections it is a must see
2 options for dining: A very good wine and beer tasting bar and cafe . And Source restaurant . If you're there, there was a coffee float with lemongrass anglaise. Order if possible
If you don't want to spend 20$ for Mona boat or bus transfer to the museum , look for the public bus by Metro: http://www.metrotas.com.au/timetables/index/1 However, boat trip is worth the pay.
Experiential art at it's best. A fabulous mix of installation and visual art . Must see if in Hobart .
Excellent place! The building and grounds alone are so interesting and then, there's the art . A must see in Hobart .
We visited between major exhibitions . The permanent collection, spaces and environments still left me with a sense of WOW.
Stunning place with some really nice old art . The new art changes every now.amd then and some are interesting.
The food is really good and the ferry going over is very trendy ... Most exhibits are suitable for kids... Some very original ideas
This is probably the most interesting museum I have seen. If you like the weird and crazy art come here. This is the wall of weird.
The greatest museum in Australia. Weird, extravagant and esoteric.
Awesome, world class gallery . Go on a Saturday morning while the rest of the tourists are at Salamanca. Also do the Moo Brew beer & Moorilla wine tastings
The cafe runs out of many hot dishes early. Get there before 1 or your options may be limited. Don't miss the cellar door which closes at 5.
Book everything online well in advance. Because queues, queues and then after that queues. Did I mention queues? Much worse on a rainy day. Otherwise fantastic place
Amazingly awesome museum . Don’t skimp on the paid exhibits . They’re worth it
Easily my new favorite art museum . Plan on a full day.
Ignore the advice - start on B1 and go straight to the mummy room, only 2 people at a time, big queues as the day unfolds..lots of contemplative spaces on B1, makes B3 feel like a dance party !
Don't miss listening to the harmonics of the metal "fence" outdoors around the edge of the tennis court . The winds from the Derwent make extraordinary music .
Excellent collections and beautifully presented.
Very cool use of technology - register your email on the O Guide and before you are back home to sleep MONA sends you links to what you saw+clicked on - fabulous memories, follow-up
Not suitable for kids even during busy holiday periods. The staff are on high alert and jump on them at the slightest chance. Still, it's interesting, quirky and a Hobart check list item.
Everything
Worth a visit if you have time. Great collection of art .
Special although there are some art objects may make some of people feel uncomfortable.. But this is art
it's ok. nice architecture and interior design , but the exhibits are a little lacking in content. some are very uninspiring. the iPod they hand out and the corresponding app are first class !
Absolutely brilliant. Could go back again and again. My new favourite art space. Highly, highly recommend!
Had a great time checking out all the unique art . I would highly recommend a visit to the Museum to anyone.
The sheer scale of the place is very impressive.
Scope out what you want to see. It's large and takes a whole to get around. Leave a couple of hours minimum
Start at the bottom and work your way up. The bar on the bottom floor make great martinis , so start your day with a cocktail
Get a spot on the lawn overlooking the Derwent and try the bacon & caramelised onion open sandwich and a Moo Brew pale ale
???? best museum ever, full of surprises, you can find any sort of collection
Amazing! One of the best museum in the world. Impressive guiding tour with the itouch and leads you through different pieces of art .
Always sweet to see the cats of owner David Walsh as if to welcome you at the top of the stairs out it in the sun.
Noisy , tedious and wanky. But still a great way to spend a day -- and still shits over most other modern "art " museums .
Lots of Instagram-friendly pieces. Some sections are quite sexual, macabre and generally frightening - maybe not suitable for children?
World Class . Certainly a cut above. Immerse yourself for an entire day (easily done) and then stay the night at the Pavillions.
Entrance free for the last opening hour, 5pm, onwards. But that surely isn't enough for you to finish even half of the museum .
One of the best contemporary art museum I have ever seen
Pricey but a good option for food at the museum. Get a glass of wine and enjoy a corn jaffle and mezze plate. - Bommy
The small plates are beautifully presented and delicious. It would be hard to find a more beautiful space to eat in. - YL
Some great jewellery at Rebecca Roth Cube:Art Design at Shop 8. Rings, necklaces, brooches, rings, bookmarks - fresh lovely designs, utterly affordable - Virginia Gordon
A very good imaginative skills will help a lot. what remained are markers of the old structures. - Francis Sevilla
Once you've climbed up and seen the view, stop for a snack in the cafe downstairs... lovely homemade deliciousness! - Jennifer McNickle
Do the matching wines - the sommeliers are great; and generous. Had a '91 Chateauneuf du Pape with our meal. You don't get too many places offering a 20 year old French Red in a degustation, do you? - Simon Bloomfield
