Morning visit is at its best as the sky is blue, perfect for contrast pics. Needs improvement inside the museum , not just collecting things but arranging them according to theme would b better????????
The museum has more than 23,500 artifacts from the 17th to 19th centuries but perhaps the most famous is the canon in the square. Rub its metal hand motif and fertility is assured. So legend has it.
If you want to visit this Historical Maritime and Very Old Histories of The City of Jakarrta Museum of FATAHILAH during the weekdays, it is much better and it will give you a better experience.
The Jakarta History Museum (Fatahillah Museum ) is housed in the former City Hall located in the old part of the city now known as Jakarta Kota, some hundred meters behind the port of Sunda Kelapa. Read more
Opening hour & fee see pic. Better display after renovation. Mushola, toilet , souvenir & snack shops available. Again: another languange rather than Ind & Engl should be added.
Jakarta History Museum charts the city ’s story back to prehistoric times. But it has plenty of history itself. Built in 1710 it was the headquarters of the Dutch Colonial Government.
Lots of memories here! Spooky at night and incredibly hot at the afternoon. It's under renovation, now. Just a walking distance from other museums .
22 January 2012: I have been a volunteer of social campaign by @kisahdijalan : "Susu Tumpah di Jalan". We play & share the FREE milk for the underprivileged children that lives & works there.
The Jakarta History Museum (Museum Sejarah Jakarta), which is also known as Fatahillah Museum or Batavia Museum , is located in the Old Town of Jakarta, Indonesia. The building was built in 1710.
You are required to take off your shoes and wear sandals provided. Not sure what for.
Need to put description on what they showing, instead putting up the photo of people doing renovation, better to put old photos of the past as part of the history.
Saw collections of various furniture & other artifacts from Indonesia's colonial times, the old dungeons where they stored ammunition or held prisoners , & learned many things about Jakarta's history.
More of a 'historical site ' than a museum . Nothing to see inside except old furnitures and 1 or 2 dutch paintings . Not as 'museum-like' as I remember.
Cozy place for culinary hideaway in Kota Tua Jakarta. You should try.
Don't forget to bring ur phone and camera , amazing place with olde town atmosphere
Rent a classic bicycle and go round the "kota tua", they have wayang, art and ceramics and bank museums too nearby

I must say that the Old Town area these days is more like a fair , way too crowded !! I like the old one better. Skip Fatahillah area, go straight to Museum of Fine Arts/Toko Merah area instead.

Museum sejarah Jakarta
Okay to get a sniff of history but other than that nothing much of an exhibition . Lousy material accompanying objects (most have no description). For IDR 2000, very inexpensive so you get what you pay
It's a part of the old city of Jakarta that almost forgotten by the youngsters.
