This is the oldest public museum in Latvia and one of the oldest in Europe, the origin of which dates back to 1773.

Free entrance, great expositions , but only in latvian (very little info in english).

the museum seems to be open on Mondays (while all the other museums are closed)
В музее две основные экспозиции : история Риги с момента основания до 1940-ых годов (основная) и музей мореходства (пара залов). Почти в каждом зале есть брошюра на русском языке .
Музей небольшой, в нумизматической коллекции было несколько копий монет. Замечательная бабушка в русском зале.
Достаточно хороший музей , нравиться больше чем остальные исторические музеи в Риге

Spent half a day to walk around the city center and enjoy the beautiful sceneries. Had a drink in this sq and enjoyed the July sun. Very charming city indeed, with GREAT coins!:D - Nassim
