The interior decor is subliminal. Everything has been thought of perfectly. Mausoleum of Diocletian initially, converted into a church . W/ its octagonal shape, it combines Christian and Roman elements
Consecrated at the turn of the 7th century AD, it’s considered the oldest Catholic cathedral in the world that remains in use in its original structure . The structure itself was built in 305 AD.
Beautiful church that’s currently closed due to renovations, but the outside is just as impressive. There’s a 3500 year old Sphinx chilling on the wall. Spot it and appreciate it. It’s an original.
After viewing the interior of the cathedral , you can climb the bell tower to get a lovely view of the surrounding area and the nearby port .
But your ticket here for the cathedral , bell tower , crypt and Baptistry. If not, you will pay more.
The cathedral was named after St Duje, patron saint of Split (3rd century Bishop). The main part is Emperor Diocletian 's mausoleum (end of the 3rd century ). The Bell Tower was constructed in 1100 AD.
Beautiful cathedral and must go up the tower
Prist talks alot, that makes folks avoid to come here frequently!
178/181 steps depending on where to start the count - and you're on the highest Dalmatian tower. Pretty risky but worth it! - Nadia Seniavina
amazing view, cathedral, nice and relaxing atmosphere at lvxor, music, dance.. - Natalija Manojlović
Small temple, later converted into a baptistry. Headless black granite sphinx is guarding the entrance. The most beautiful part of the temple is the amazing ceiling so don't forget to look up. - Bar Barramundi Split, Croatia
