The place may not look like much and might be easy to overlook, but whatever you do, don't leave Provincetown without having the Malassada 's. The staff are also really friendly and helpful.
The fried dough gets all the fame but they have lots of other great options too. Like trutas, a crispy turnover with a sweet potato filling (sweet potato , eggs , whiskey , cinnamon , sugar)
I have been going to the Portuguese bakery for 18 years now. Must get rolls and some pastry ! And often need breakfast for a fishing trip - bacon , egg & chees on a portuguese roll ...mmmm!
Custard tarts are great in addition to the mandatory fried dough .
The malassada are, indeed, awesome! They don't start making them until 8, though... If you're an early riser like me you may have to wait a bit
People go for the fried dough . I go for the breakfast of eggs , luguiça and toast ! The best
ask them to warm up the pastries , but it is best to come early when everything is fresh
