Has the charm of a local bodega , the swagger of a Whole Foods and the warmth you get from your favorite mom and pop shop. We wanted to move in. Instead we just loaded up on local artisan food stuffs.
The most precious produce. They might give you the ugly/bruised stuff for free on a good day. Happy meats, French wine and house romesco and pesto sauces . Most $ per square foot, but I can't hate
Love love this place! It's small but there's a great selection and yes, a tad pricey . Bi-rite ice cream ...DELICIOUS!
The pork bahn mi has quite a few jalapeños , so ask for less if you can't handle much heat; great place to pick up a sandwich if you're on your way to a picnic .
Beautiful produce but pricey . Fantastic selection of cheeses and local breads . Find firebrand artisan bread 's pumpkin seed pretzels and authentic bagel co.'s bagels here.
Super expensive but tons of awesome stuff. Treat yourself with one of their fancy chocolate bars .
Always fun to walk through Bi-Rite. Get the fresh ice cream (they have hand-packed pints in the freezer section too).
Among the best wine stores in the city for price and quality with knowledgable staff to walk you through the selection process.
Some great sandwiches here. Try to ham and cheese with bechamel sauce . Finish that up with a salted caramel ice cream cone . The produce is generally good but the place can be quite expensive .
The produce is excellent here, like shopping the farmer's market . The Bi-rite brand products are just as tasty and well priced.
Keep your eyes out for unusual fruits , Stumptown coffee , and on-shelf sample cups . In fact, speaking of samples: You can try not just their delicious ice cream , but also, amazingly: liqueurs .
If you can stand the hipsterism and priciness of everything here, they've got some really great produce and good deli sandwiches .
THE best grocery store in SF. Today, I was buying a bunch of stuff and left a piece of ginger on the counter and the cashier ran halfway down the block to give it to me. That is f****** service!
Best seasonal fruits and veggies . Sandwiches are awesome. Great wine selection . Everything is great here, just more expensive .
Honestly some of the best ice cream I've ever had. The crème brûlée ice cream tasted like the real thing!
Sample everything, use your elbows to maneuver the small isles, and grab awesome locally grown/owned/made ... Everything
While expensive , Bi-Rite provides fantastic selection, a great deli , and delightful service. Can't recommend it highly enough.
Ask at the counter for fresh-baked goods like scones and mini-brioche... Deli meats are outstanding! Customer service is out of this world!
What a sensible place - you can ask for half pints of soup . Perfect if you like soup and sandwich lunches !
Salted caramel ice cream was good if over-rated. 1 scoop of strawberry balsamic with 1 scoop of basil will rock your world though.
When I'm low on funds and can't spend $10 on a jar of pickles , I can just go across the street to Popeyes. Divis, you're the best
It's not cheap , but the selection and quality is the best around. Oh, and the ice cream ...it's as good as advertised and then some.
Excellent cheese , ice cream , wine and prepared foods, but its far from cheap .
A bit expensive that I have got only coffee beans. Just get ice cream .
During summer, the creamery is actually open until 10pm!
Pay attention to price, because some things are less expensive than Whole Foods!!! Their dolmas are fantastic too. Read more
Gorgeous selection of food. Could spend hours just walking around. Friendly staff !
Great take-home foods! This is the spacier and brighter version of your favorite grocery on Valencia
Super high quality super market . My spot for sandwiches and picnic essentials.
One of the only places I've found growlers of Magnolia beers in the city !
can't believe i always got salted caramel ice cream without ever trying the ricanelas! i am now forever a ricanelas fan.
10% off 6 bottles of wine . Great cheese selection too.
Super friendly staff who will keep your doggie occupied while you grab your grocery
Josey Baker bread ! If they're out, try The Mill down the street.
A very nice market , I just wish it wasn't so small. I must've hit 5 different people with my bag, but everyone was in the same situation.
Great sandwiches—tofu banh mi is my favorite
Fresh seafood and high quality meat. Great wine selection too
Go at 5 and get the hot dinner . The roast chicken never disappoints.
Keep an eye out for their wine blitzes - 20% off a case of superb wine
They have some great chocolate bars by Dick Taylor in Arcata and Mast Brothers in Brooklyn.
You can try as many flavors of ice cream as you want!
Malted vanilla ice cream is unique and wonderful.
$5 lettuce in pretty displays, and tomatoes that come in colors you didn't think possible unless you used an Instagram filter
The turkey lavash wrap is incredible
Don't forget to get punches on your ice cream and sandwich cards
My favorite flavor is the honey lavender and basil . ????
If you are gluten-free go to Health Haven across the street for better selection and better labeling.
Awesome local California produce & ice cream
Expensive but high quality food
Ice cream window is open later than the main store.
Awesome (if a little pricy) market inside, and ferry rides out the back. Worth going on Saturday for the farmer's market. - Dana
Excellent prepared foods section. Grab a rice bowl, kimbap or japchae for lunch - Angelica W
Everything is so wonderful and the spot is super cozy! - Vincent Tang
Nice place to hang out, great view of the city on a sunny day. - Jacob Mulligan
Dynamo donuts and great coffee! bread is great as well, but toast can be quite overpriced—buy a loaf and make your own. - Ava
Outstanding brunch menu especially the Tasso ham with creamed corn and French toast(a half order is huge.) - Lauren
