It must have taken the experts a lot of patience to reconstruct the statue back together. I am full of admiration for the archeologists with the vision to collect & organise all the pieces!
Are you amaze at how glass was first discovered? It must be such a novelty & item of beauty to be made of translucent & fragile materials with such ethereal colours
Museum is located near the popular church Panagia Ekatontapiliani (also known as the Church of 100 doors). Directional signs are well-placed
When small items are found, I’m always curious about their function or inspiration. It demonstrated determination & aesthetics by generations long before us
Find a statue of Medusa here. Greeks called her Gorgo. She was 1 of 3 monstrous Gorgons who were winged human females with snakes as hair
I am amazed by the variety of pottery that experts have managed to excavate & find on the island !
Wonder what ancient coins look like? They hv a shelf full of coins minted by various parties ????
Don’t miss the many objects on display found in the courtyard . Mostly unlabelled
This is apparently a tombstone. So exquisite how the living treated the afterlife
We paid €3 per adult to visit the museum
Even neolithic tools were found on the island !
Very early alphabets/words/messages captured on stone
