1963年6月，毛主席題寫"中國美術館"館額。明確了中國美術館的國家美術館地位及辦館性質。主體大樓為仿古閣樓式，黄色琉璃瓦大屋頂，四周廊榭围繞，具有鲜明的民族建築風格。

Musée gratuit rapide à visiter. On peut déplorer le manque de diversité des œuvres exposées mais les salles de peintures et de calligraphies sont belles.
