Agios Dimitrios Is considered the most important church of Thessaloniki for religious, historical and artistic reasons as well .Devoted to the patron Saint of the city , it has a long and rich history!

It is dedicated to the memory of Dimitrios, the martyr and patron saint of Thessaloniki. It was first built in 313 AD and rebuilt after fires fire which completely destroyed it in 612 and 1917.

A true relic of the Byzantine Empire. Note for the golden mosaics on the walls. Also check the catacombs (underground city tunnels ) and the service in the catacombs once a week!

Enormous 5th century church . Was converted by the Ottomans into a mosque but was remade a church in 1913. Excellent frescoes and mosaics .

İcerideki tablolar, mozaikler , heykeller hepsi sanki daha dun yapilmis gibi yepyeni. Oldukca bakimli ve buyuk bir kilise .

İçi oldukça bakımlı güzel bir kilise , mum dikip dileklerinizi yazabilirsiniz. Selanik merkezde, icerideki suslemeler gayet ilgi çekici, tavsiye ederim mutlaka görün.

Ο Πολιούχος της Θεσσαλονίκης , στο παρελθόν μετατράπηκε σε τζαμί και καταστράφηκε ολοσχερώς από πυρκαγιές. Κατέβα στις κατακόμβες του για ένα ταξίδι στο παρελθόν!

Έξαιρετικη εκκλησία ! Πρέπει οπωσδήποτε να πάτε όπως και στις κατακομβες κάτω !!

Πανέμορφη εκκλησία με τεράστια θρησκευτική και κοινωνική σημασία για την πόλη! Απαράδεκτη η εκμετάλλευση των πιστών όμως. Τιμοκατάλογο από τα κεριά μέχρι τις εικόνες. Ντροπή μέσα στον οίκο του Θεού.
