The bistec a la criolla and el bistec encebollado are to die for. They have that homemade quality that is rare to find. If the wait is long when you arrive, dont feel discouraged, it is SO worth it.
"camarones al ajillo".The most impressive isPrice 14,95$what it includes:5!Shrimps,sideDish(in my case it was rice )andSalad. You will be "SUPER FULL"with this dish. BTW the rise stick to your tooth :)
Delicious and decent prices! I ordered the creolle chicken and loved it. Garlic chicken , shrimp , and ribs were also great. Get the trifogo as your side. Beware they run out of food if you go late.
I had the pastele navideña plate. It was awesome. Wanda served us and the staff was pleasant. The beans with rice (separate) were delicious.
I've been here 2 days and I plan on eating dinner here till the day I leave. The mofongo is amazing and the service is top notch!
Authentic spot in San Juan. Order family style and try a little of everything + a few rounds of local beers .
Well-priced and authentic Puertorrican food. Reccommended: the very well seasoned churrasco . The tostones and amarillos are good, but not quite like getting them from a food truck in the país.
Amazing mom and pop kinda place ! The food was delicious! Would return for the mofongo y guisados !
Good local food place. Go early to be sure to get dinner in time 'cose it is a lot of people in lane. Always))
Real Puerto Rican food . The sangria is great, had pollo al ajillo and sweet plantains - delicious. Service was perfect. In beautiful old San Juan.
Appetizer, beef plantain turnover ...nice, followed by skirt steak creole. Super tasty meal and a busy place.
Keep in mind the dishes change daily - dishes recommended on Foursquare might not be on the menu! That said, the "Puerto Rican lasagna " is awesome (beef and plantain ).
First of all, Amazing no regrets. Service is excelent. The Mofongo relleno Al Ajillo is out of this world, I can tell im puertorrican.
The pork with plantain gravy was delicious!! The food was good, the smoothies fresh, but the wait and service can be slow. Be prepared to wait. Very enjoyable.
Take a break from exploring and cool off while enjoying an authentic local lunch . Try the pernil al horno or bistec encebollado among many delicious choices!

Christmas platter is an awesome deal. Trifongo is a must try, basically fried mofongo with sweet plantains mixed in. Be prepared for a long wait
Local gem that's been around for more than 40 years. Don't miss out on the Plato Navideño and Camarones Al Ajillo w Mofongo Mixto!
Best food in our Puerto Rico trip. Sangria was nice though taste like a fruit punch. Grilled pork was aaawweesoommee! Roast chicken with fried mofongo was kickass. Place to get high on food!
El plato navideno is what I always eat!! The aranitas are also delicious. I like the pina colada but It didn’t have any alcohol :-(
Everything we ordered was excellent... Totally enjoyed the grilled pork chops with trifongo.. Washed all the good food down with sangria .... Excellent lunch ... Definitely recommended
Hidden little spot but very touristy the wait was about an hour. I think the food was good and the prices and service fair but not for an hour wait. Very Good portions. Do it once and go when no wait.
Skirt steak stew is friggin' awesome & so are the dark rice & beans and plantains with garlic sauce . Friendly staff and reasonable prices, don't miss out on their tasty sangrias !
solid. killer hot sauce , enjoyed the mofongo and a couple different pork dishes . empanadas also ????
Awesome local food. Get some empanadas , Mofongo , and the chicken .
The chicken creole dish with the tri-mofongo is OUT OF THIS, as is the pork in plantain gravy . As evidenced by our empty plates :-) def try the sangria , too!
Great place, tasty food (ask for the Sancocho - kind of beef/vegetables soup ), really reasonable prices.
Every item is absolutely delicious but make certain to try the Camarones al ajillo or Pollo al ajillo with a side of the Dark Rice and Black Beans . Out of this world!!!
Croquetas de bacalado; Christmas special; veal stew .
Where Puerto Ricans go for Puerto Rican food in VSJ, as opposed to the very touristy 'Raices' restaurant . Try the Mofongo .
Chicken stew , tamales , tostones were all excellent. Also Sangria FTW.
Don't be a tourist . Come in chill out and enjoy the food. Yes its slow...but if you want faster, go to McDonalds. And come at an off hour.
Best no frills local food. Very friendly family run staff . Have the camorones con ajillo and the tri mofongo .
Steak with onions is amazing! Some of the most flavorful and tender steak I've ever had!
Get ready for some of the best most traditional delicious Puerto Rican food in old San Juan .
The bowl of arroz y habichuelas that they brought out for my daughter before we even ordered was a nice touch.
Awesome authentic food without the bells and whistles. Short time in Old San Juan, come here
Get the creole chicken and triple mofongo . Excellent food and great service, highly recommended!
Chicken oven baked pork are great. Environment is so so. A bit crowded . Very affordable restaurant .
Amazing food!! Oven roasted pork with red beans and white rice are delicious! Tostones are amazing with the garlic dipping sauce .
Steak & sweet plantains are amazing. Also best yellow rice and beans!!
The sauces are to die for. Best authentic Puerto Rican food . And you can order rum and cokes to go!
Enjoyed the oven roasted pork ribs with mixed mofongo . Very tender like roast beef . Had to pick off some fat though.
You HAVE to get Fernando as a waiter . He's the best. And he might even propose to you. Oh, and the food is yummy too.
If your American and your looking for true "Jibarito" country boy cooking native to Puerto Rico this place is it.
the fried plantains are fantastic. be careful: the sangria adds up ($25 / pitcher ). also, request Fernando as your server!
Great Food and Atmosphere. Get the Red Snapper and the Sangria Pitchers
Very cozy setting. Food has great presentation and the beans have an exquisite creole taste.
Everything is SO GOOD here - great local restaurant
This is my second time here. One of the best authentic old San Juan. I like the Cube steak w onions or the Pasteles .
Great local spot...fun little diner with great service and of course, amazing Mallorcas! Try the fresh squeezed orange juice. - Jackie G
Gotta get the pina colada! Best in San Juan. Very creamy... worth going out of your way if you're in PR. - Cody Gardner
The paella is amazing!!! Tastes like the ocean...it’s THAT fresh. And the Mojitos are great! Try the Parcha (Passion Fruit) mojito! - Genesis M
Highly recommended when visiting the San Juan area. It's a beautiful historic site and make sure to stay for the sunset. In a experience that you will never forget. - Betty Gonzalez
Gorgeous views of Puertorico so big. It had so much history and the tour was great. The tunnels were awesome to walk through the different displays of history since its creation. Flawless a must do!! - Erik Cintron
