A must-do for London. Free entrance is an opportunity; even if you arent a museum lover, you can even spend two hours walking around great historical artifacts . Dont miss Assyrian Lamassul sculptures

Very rich collection of ancient Egyptian, Greek, Roman, European and Asian artefacts. The Rosette stone and Ramses II head are among the most famous pieces. Free WiFi .

Nico Macdonald

Great exhibitions (in two exhibition spaces), lovely smaller temporary exhibits , good lectures and family events , wonderful space in The Great Court, clear and well-designed signage, pleasant spaces.

Tom Coates

Of the world’s greatest museums if not the world’s greatest museum . Go for the Rosetta Stone , the Elgin marbles , the amazing Mesopotamian structures and the great court in the center.

Maria

Amazing place and it’s a must if you visit London! You can spend hours & hours inside so plan well if you are time poor. Worth to hire the audio as it can be really crowded to get too close.

Cenk Gümüşcüoğlu

A must-see of course but I always feel like I'm wandering around in a thief's vault. Most of the heritage held in the museum are taken there under colonial possession and actually don't belong there.

Simon

A must-do if you are visiting London. Just take enough time to enjoy every piece of art . There is a huge variety of artworks, you will surely find something interesting or appealing to you!

Ali Ahi

This is indeed one of the best museums in the world! Basically you can find anything you want in there. Don't forget to check out ancient Egypt, Iran (Persia), & Greece.

Ryan Waggoner

Free admission , a collection spanning all cultures and time periods, and an absolutely beautiful building. Don't miss the Parthenon galleries or the Enlightenment Room.

Veronica Kityo

I have not been at the museum in 20 years and I enjoyed it there. I am going back as I was only there for a short time before work. I love History so I know I want to spend a good few hours there.

Jack O

Probably the best museum in the world. Really well curated and amazingly it's also free. Try to catch one of the tours , they really enhance the experience.

Blue Gaugin

Take a look at the beautiful Japanese gallery . Beginning with this simple and complete map was the most incredible surprise i could have at the entry, best way to enter into another world!

Andrey

favourite museum in London. main hall space, Queen Elizabeth II Great Court, is just gorgeous — raise your eyes on the ceiling. btw, this place contains one of the largest ancient Egypt expositions .

Robert Accettura

In any legitimate list of worlds best museums this will be on the list towards the top. You can't miss it. Half the artifacts in any history book that still exist are here. Pretty amazing.

Mahdi Hosseini

It's a must-do in London.amazing collection from around the world. Especially great ancient empires. It's FREE, you have NOT pay if they asked for the donation, instead of the ticket.

D !

I've been in nearly all the major museums of the world, the British museum put all the history at hand for free. Don't forget the Rosetta Stone , The Partenon Frescoes and The Ishtar Door.

Hendy Ongkodjojo

Don't be like the million other people around you, put your camera and phone away and seize the moment! Take the time to learn about the Rosetta stone and other historical facts!!

Rachel Mercer

My new favorite place. Pillaging aside, the Hutton Soo and Egyptian exhibits are a must see (um, Rosetta Stone anyone?). As is the legendary Crystal Skull, which is on display despite being a fake!

João Gonçalves

The British Museum was, by far, the best museum I ever stepped into. The permanent collection is filled with so many great artists and with so many pieces that one day wouldn't be enough to absorb it.

Nicole Mills

Make sure you have ample time to explore all the wonderful exhibits at The British Museum. Some key things to look out for include The Rosetta Stone , Mummy of Katebet, Easter Island head & lots more!

Amy Carothers

Stroll around the museum admiring the architecture while having a brush with history. Tip: Make sure to walk up the winding staircase for a bird’s eye view and a closer look at the ceiling.

Julius Truelove

One of my favourite museums in London. I always bring my kids there. Besides, visiting this place is inspiring, like you’re walking through time and across the globe!

Carlos Duarte

A rich collection that shows the history of diverse civilizations and their different cultures. Highlights of the Mesopotamian heritage, Greece and ancient Rome

Budoor Bahareth

A wonderful experience, the building itself is a thing to see. You get to see the rosetta stone up close and have a taste of pharaohs life through mummies and ancient Egyptian artifacts .

Dimitris Kotsios

One of the best museums I have ever been! The best of all is absolutely FREE .. and it's enormous! In addition you can relax by drinking some coffee or eating a snack at the restaurant !

Enzo Martinelli

Fantastic collection of artefacts from all periods and from around the world. Absolutely amazing! ????????♥️????????

Hernan Valdivia

It’s free to enter! An impressive atrium that takes your breath away. Expertly curated artefacts. Facilities are clean . Grab a coffee and a carrot cake to set you up for a day of viewing .

Becky OtterBot

Wonderful FREE museum with elevators and stairs for access to all floors. Kid friendly with some "hands on" exhibits . Recommend purchasing the museum book OR there are QR codes to get museum maps.

Rob Jackson

The definitive museum in London for ancient artefacts. Everything is beautifully presented, and the main atrium area as you enter is very imposing. Look out for the special exhibitions !

Olga Tsybulska

The museum is huge!Be sure to read what is in before you go there or the visiting will be useless for you. It shows how Great the Great Britain is. Strong historic place.Don't forget the audio guide.

Andrew Talaga

As well as the Elgin Marbles and the Rosetta Stone also try to visit the chessmen from the Isle of Lewis - room 40 on the first floor. Carved from walrus tusk they are amazing

Parth Awasthi

Possibly the best collection of ancient history anywhere in the world. The British Museum is not nearly as expansive as the Louvre but its focus is much more on anthropological heritage than cultural.

Fulham Football Club

Visit room 49, case 6, to see the ‘Fulham Sword’. Found next to Craven Cottage it dates back to 43 AD, is the best example of its kind in Britain & is the best named sword in the Museum (so we think)

Elžbieta Riddl

Best to visit in the morning, though don't hesitate to wait for a bit if there is a queue - it moves pretty fast. Take audioguide.

Jason Brown

Everything is here. If Britain stole it, they’ve got it!

Helen Zhang

You can spend half a day just on the ground floor in the Egypt section (incl. Rosetta stone ) and the beautiful library-esque exhibit on the history of scientific discovery

N Yanty

My favourite museum in the world! Must see - the mummies ! I do missed the reading room, hope it will be back soon.

Maria Bl

All these fantastic (stolen) items should be returned to the original owners!! Parthenon marbles must go back to Greece at the NEW Acropolis museum !!

Tamires Ribeiro

This museum has on its focus international culturals all around the world. For me the best part was the Egiptian, upatairs you can see the mummies . The greek part has a lot of sculptures from Partheon

Kerim

Now there is no entrance fee but if you are a kind and responsible person you better donate at the boxes around the great hall. You should definetly see the worlds most famous chess set inside.

Krystel Justice

The Rosetta Stone and Elgin Marbles are a must see-- loads of fascinating exhibits . I've been 3 times and wish I could go 8000 more!

Will Belford

Wonderful museum , with much to see and adore! Free entrance fee. You'll get to know everything about the civilization of places, such as Greece, Cyprus, Egypt and Messopotamia and Italy!

Fred Spofforth

Rosetta Stone , Egyptian mummies , Elgin marbles (which are impressive whatever the controversy) and more. Even the foyer is impressive.

Farmer Farmer

Great and one of the top museums in the world. Start early. One day may not be enough to tour the museum . Nice food court for a break. Free admission .

Nathalia Lima

Do not come with hurry, otherwise you will miss it a lot of amazing expositions . I recommend 2 full days to visit all the famous galleries .

Marlyn Guzman

The British Museum is a must must see in London and the UK. There is always something to discover, to learn and to see, no matter if you are interested in museums , history or not - you will get addict

Elizabeth

It was my 2nd day at the British museum, and let me tell you, there's going to be another visit, cause one day clearly isn't enough to see all the great exhibits ! Make sure you take a multimedia guide

Aran Rodríguez

This world class is museum must be on top of your list if you ever visit London. The Egyptian mummies were the highlight for me. There's free wifi . The lines for the restrooms were quite long. Beware.

Jonathan Payne

It is gigantic and the amount of exhibits is overwhelming. Also it’s free. Consequently, during Summer it’s very busy. Buy tix b4, get here early 2 avoid crowds & have a plan on which exhibits to see.
