Amazing place and it’s a must if you visit London! You can spend hours & hours inside so plan well if you are time poor. Worth to hire the audio as it can be really crowded to get too close.

A must-see of course but I always feel like I'm wandering around in a thief's vault. Most of the heritage held in the museum are taken there under colonial possession and actually don't belong there.

In any legitimate list of worlds best museums this will be on the list towards the top. You can't miss it. Half the artifacts in any history book that still exist are here. Pretty amazing.

I've been in nearly all the major museums of the world, the British museum put all the history at hand for free. Don't forget the Rosetta Stone , The Partenon Frescoes and The Ishtar Door.

As well as the Elgin Marbles and the Rosetta Stone also try to visit the chessmen from the Isle of Lewis - room 40 on the first floor. Carved from walrus tusk they are amazing

Possibly the best collection of ancient history anywhere in the world. The British Museum is not nearly as expansive as the Louvre but its focus is much more on anthropological heritage than cultural.

Visit room 49, case 6, to see the ‘Fulham Sword’. Found next to Craven Cottage it dates back to 43 AD, is the best example of its kind in Britain & is the best named sword in the Museum (so we think)

Best to visit in the morning, though don't hesitate to wait for a bit if there is a queue - it moves pretty fast. Take audioguide.

You can spend half a day just on the ground floor in the Egypt section (incl. Rosetta stone ) and the beautiful library-esque exhibit on the history of scientific discovery

This museum has on its focus international culturals all around the world. For me the best part was the Egiptian, upatairs you can see the mummies . The greek part has a lot of sculptures from Partheon

Now there is no entrance fee but if you are a kind and responsible person you better donate at the boxes around the great hall. You should definetly see the worlds most famous chess set inside.

The Rosetta Stone and Elgin Marbles are a must see-- loads of fascinating exhibits . I've been 3 times and wish I could go 8000 more!

This world class is museum must be on top of your list if you ever visit London. The Egyptian mummies were the highlight for me. There's free wifi . The lines for the restrooms were quite long. Beware.

It is gigantic and the amount of exhibits is overwhelming. Also it’s free. Consequently, during Summer it’s very busy. Buy tix b4, get here early 2 avoid crowds & have a plan on which exhibits to see.
